“T2: Trainspotting,” the sequel to the 1996 cult favorite film directed by Danny Boyle, hits theaters Friday. Here are five facts about the new movie:
v Hair stays: Actor Jonny Lee Miller offered to shave his head to look older, but Boyle insisted that Sick Boy retain his iconic blond hair.
v Original story: Although Irvine Welsh wrote a follow-up to his novel “Trainspotting” in 2002 called “Porno,” this movie follow-up is only very loosely based on it. It is mostly an original story which includes some unused parts of the “Trainspotting” novel, and some elements from “Porno.”
v First sequel: This is the first sequel that Boyle has directed and the second sequel overall that he has produced (Boyle produced “28 Weeks Later” in 2007, the sequel to 2002’ “28 Days Later”).
v Accent: In the original “Trainspotting,” Jonny Lee Miller’s Scottish accent was his own. He tested his accuracy in a Glasgow bar stating something along the lines of “if I could wing it there I was OK.”
v Verbatim: The first sentence that Spud writes in his memoir is “The sweat was lashin’ off ay Sick Boy.” This is the first line of the novel “Trainspotting.”
“Lethal Weapon” (8 p.m., Fox): “Lethal Weapon” completes a successful first season with an episode that has Riggs making a shocking discovery about Miranda’s death. It leads him back to the cartel in a frantic search for answers.
“Greenleaf” (10 p.m., OWN): In Season 2 of “Greenleaf,” fans can expect the family tree to split at the root as Jacob goes off to begin his new career with a rival church. Meanwhile, after exposing her uncle Mac’s crimes, but failing to bring him to justice, Grace turns her attention to a dashing local journalist.
