LATEST DEVELOPMENTS ON TRUMP MOVES

Federal lawyers say President Donald Trump’s revised travel ban is “substantially different” from the original and a judge shouldn’t apply a previous restraining order to the new version. Justice Department lawyers filed documents in U.S. District Court in Seattle on Tuesday Washington and other states are trying to block the revised ban affecting six mostly Muslim nations, saying it’s unconstitutional and hurts universities and businesses.

Trump will travel to Michigan today, where he is expected to roll back federal fuel-economy requirements that would have forced automakers to significantly increase the efficiency of cars and trucks built in the next decade.

The White House says Trump is “extremely confident” that the Justice Department will produce evidence backing up his claim that his predecessor wiretapped his New York skyscraper during the election. The comments from spokesman Sean Spicer come one day after the Justice Department asked lawmakers for more time to produce that evidence.
