The Warren City Health District, 258 E. Market St., will offer a Know Your Numbers program from 9 to 11 a.m. March 23.

Participants are required to fast for 12 hours. Lab work includes HbA1c, HDL, LDL, triglycerides, total cholesterol and blood pressure screening.

This two-part program is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be provided by Sam’s Club.

CPR class offered

LISBON

The Health Care Provider CPR,AED is offering a cardiopulmonary resuscitation class from 9 a.m. to noon March 25 at the Columbiana County Health Department, 7360 state Route 45.

Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) is a lifesaving technique useful in many emergencies, including heart attack or near drowning, in which someone’s breathing or heartbeat has stopped. The CPR course is taught by American Heart Association instructor/registered nurse Cecelia Horvatic.

The cost is $50 per person. A two-year certification will be issued to those who complete the class. To register, call Krista 330-424-0272, ext. 114.

ACH names VP, CIO

AKRON

Harun Rashid has joined Akron Children’s Hospital as vice president and chief information officer.

Rashid comes to Akron Children’s with more than 25 years of information services experience, having most recently served as vice president for international services and vice president for tele-health services for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Prior to those positions, he served 11 years as vice president for global health services and chief information officer for Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, the Magee Women’s Hospital and the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, all within UPMC.

Rashid has bachelor of science degrees in information systems and business management from the University of West Alabama, and earned an executive master of business administration degree from the University of Arkansas.

Eat’n Park fundraiser

AUSTINTOWN

Executives from Eat’n Park’s corporate office presented a check for $10,964 to representatives from Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley on Monday at the Austintown Eat’n Park, 5451 Mahoning Ave.

The donation represents the local total raised during the annual Caring for Kids Campaign, a five-week fund raising effort that took place during this past holiday season at Mahoning Valley area Eat’n Park restaurants, including the Austintown, Boardman and Warren locations.

Fundraising events varied by location and included raffles, prizes, and games. Over the past seven years, more than $102,000 has been raised for Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley through the Eat‘n Park Caring for Kids Campaign.

Eat’n Park team members and guests raised $445,400 for children’s hospitals and charities across Pennsylvania, Ohio and West Virginia during the company’s 38th annual Caring for Kids Campaign, bringing the campaign total to more than $9.5 million raised since its inception in 1979.

The Columbiana County Health Department is providing immunizations to children from 2 months to 18 years old with private insurance. Appointments can be made by calling the health department, 7360 state Route 45, at 330-424-0272, ext. 114. Participants are asked to have their insurance information available when calling. Most insurance plans are accepted.
