Empowerment Plan CEO to speak at YSU

YOUNGSTOWN

Veronika Scott, founder and CEO of The Empowerment Plan, presents “Empowerment Through Employment” at Youngstown State University’s Paul J. & Marguerite J. Thomas Colloquium, at 7:30 p.m. next Tuesday in Stambaugh Auditorium on Fifth Avenue. The event is free, but tickets are required. Tickets are available at the Stambaugh Auditorium box office or online at www.stambaughauditorium.com.

Scott turned an idea about coat design for the homeless into a system of empowerment in which homeless women are paid to learn how to produce coats for people living on the streets, giving them an opportunity to earn money, find a place to live and gain back their independence.
