HERMITAGE, PA.

Keystone Blind Association recently announced that its affiliate, Keystone Vocational Services, was awarded the contract to provide mailroom services for the Office of Personnel Management Federal Investigative Services in Boyers, Pa.

Keystone Blind Association is one of the area’s fastest-growing nonprofit organizations dedicated to empowering, educating and employing individuals with vision loss or other disabilities.

This contract will provide more than 40 new jobs for people who are blind working in the mailroom. Keystone is seeking to fill multiple general clerk positions. This position is responsible for handling mail and document processing in a secure government facility in Boyers, Pa.

Lube toasts its 43rd

Quaker Steak & Lube will celebrate its 43rd birthday by giving away thousands of prizes IN March and April.

The “CeLUBEration” features instant-win scratch-off cards with prizes totaling more than $20,000 at each Quaker Steak & Lube restaurant. Guests purchasing two entrees receive a scratch-off card. Every card is a winner, and prizes include $100 gift cards, free 100-ounce Lube Tube drink dispensers, free wings for a year and a variety of free and discounted food offers, including free appetizers and desserts.

Scratch-off cards will be available at Quaker Steak & Lube restaurants through April 21, or while supplies last, and can be redeemed through May 5.

100 years for Chemical

Tuesday marks Chemical Bank’s 100th anniversary. Chemical Financial Corp.’s Executive Management team and its corporate board of directors will begin the celebration by ringing the opening bell at Nasdaq in New York City on Tuesday.

The opening-bell ceremony at Nasdaq can be viewed live on Nasdaq’s Facebook page at 9:15 a.m. Tuesday. The ceremony will be streamed on Chemical Bank’s Facebook page at that time. Also, the Opening Bell Ceremony can be viewed on various business television networks before the market’s opening at 9:30 a.m.

Northeast braces for blizzard over region

NEW YORK

The Northeast is bracing for winter’s last hurrah – a blizzard expected to sweep the New York region starting Monday with possibly the season’s biggest snowstorm dumping up to 18 inches on Central Park.

The National Weather Service issued a blizzard watch Sunday for coastal regions including New York City and surrounding areas of Long Island, Westchester County and Connecticut.

A winter storm watch was in effect for a larger area of the Northeast: New Jersey, Pennsylvania and New England.

Bus runs into crowd, kills at least 34

PORT-AU-PRINCE, HAITI

A bus plowed into people taking part in an early morning street festival in Haiti on Sunday, killing at least 34 people and injuring 17, rescue officials said.

The accident occurred around 3 a.m. in the city of Gonaives when a passenger bus first hit two people at a bus stop and then continued into a crowd of people participating in a Rara festival, an Easter season Haitian musical celebration, said Josepth Faustin, civil defense coordinator for the Artibonito region.
