Boardman’s Morrell ties for 16that state

COLUMBUS

Boardman High School high senior Bobby Morrell finished in a 16th-place tie among individuals in the Division I boys state bowling tournament Saturday at Wayne Webb’s Columbus Bowl.

Morrell rolled games of 232, 172 and 231 for a 635 series. He matched Nordonia’s Conner Novak, whose series included games of 207, 237 and 191.

Boardman finished 10 among 16 teams. The top eught teams qualify for the team championship round.

The Spartans’ Chase Felger, a junior, tied for 41st among individuals. He rolled games of 195, 189 and 196 for a 580 series.

Justin Moyer of Cuyahoga Falls was the individual champion. The junior rolled games of 267, 298 and 223 for a 788 series, easily outdistancing Centerville junor Dylan Dobran (247-258-225—730).

Westerville Central topped Wapakoneta in the team finals for the state title.
