Residents moved
WARREN
The 51 residents of White Oak Manor on Ridge Road were transferred to other nursing homes Thursday because, while generators were able to keep medical equipment operating, they could not adequately heat the facility.
According to 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, White Oak had been without electricity since Wednesday afternoon, and facing colder temperatures Thursday night and early Friday and uncertainty about restoration of power, the residents were moved.
Still without power
YOUNGSTOWN
More than 500 Ohio Edison customers are still without power a day after winds reaching up to 70 miles per hour blew through the Valley, toppling power lines and downing trees.
Mark Durbin, an Ohio Edison representative, said the majority of individuals who remain without power are in Trumbull County, and he expects power to be restored fully by sometime this evening. Durbin accounted for the long repair time by explaining that workers have to visit the remaining buildings without power individually and restore power one-by-one for the duration of the repairs. Across Ohio Edison’s service area, 170 power poles need replaced.
