The Boardman library was filled with Valentine’s music on Feb. 9.

Guests came to the library to listen to two musicians, Joseph Kromholz and Vince Scacchetti, who are part of the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. Kromholz played the violin while Scacchetti played the viola. The musicians played classical songs in honor of Valentine’s Day.

“One of our interests has been increasing the chamber music scene here in Youngstown. We’re two of the people partnering to create the Youngstown Chamber Music Series,” said Kromholz.

The pair is going around the area to put on performances at libraries, hospitals and restaurants to get the community more familiar with the series that will be starting. There will be a five-concert series of chamber music. There will be music from duos to octets performed by people from Youngstown State University and from the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra. At the end of the performance, the audience had the opportunity to ask Kromholz and Scacchetti about their instruments, music and their upcoming performances. The two musicians talks about the uniqueness their instruments such as how they were made, where they were made and when they were made.

Kromholz, an instructor at the Dana School of Music, hosts a “Music at Noon” event almost every Wednesday at the Butler Institute of American Art for guests to come and listen to different types of music from the students in the Dana School of Music.
