TCU 85, No. 1 Kansas 82

KANSAS CITY, MO.

Desmond Bane had 16 points, hitting three free throws with 2.5 seconds left, to help TCU stun top-ranked Kansas in the Big 12 quarterfinals. The eighth-seeded Horned Frogs (19-14) blew an 11-point halftime lead, and still trailed 80-76 with just over a minute remaining. But a parade of free throws knotted the game, and Alex Robinson’s driving layup gave TCU the lead back with 31 seconds left. Frank Mason answered with a pair of free throws for Kansas (28-4), but the Horned Frogs got the ball to Bane in the corner and he was fouled by Svi Mykhailiuk while putting up a shot. He calmly drained all of them, and Devonte Graham’s long 3 at the buzzer bounced harmlessly off the rim as the Horned Frogs leaped off their benched to celebrate a massive upset of the No. 1 seed.

No. 2 Villanova 108, St. John’s 67

Donte DiVincenzo had 25 points, Kris Jenkins added 24 and Villanova cruised past St. John’s in the Big East Tournament quarterfinals at Madison Square Garden. The Wildcats, who had six players score in double figures, set team tournament records for points scored and margin of victory. DiVincenzo, a redshirt freshman who finished 7 of 8 from the field, including 5 of 6 on 3s, surpassed his previous career high of 20 points, also set against St. John’s, which suffered its worst loss ever in the tournament.

No. 5 Oregon 80, Arizona St. 57

LAS VEGAS

Dillon Brooks scored 22 points, Tyler Dorsey added 21 and Oregon pulled away in the second half to beat Arizona State in the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals. Oregon (28-4) tightened up defensively after a tight first half, holding Arizona State to 8-of-33 shooting in the second. That set up transition baskets and allowed the Ducks to pull away from the Sun Devils. Dylan Ennis had a career-high 12 rebounds and five assists for the Ducks, who move on to face California in the semifinals.

No. 6 North Carolina 78, Miami 53

Isaiah Hicks had 19 points and No. 6 North Carolina certainly looked like a national championship contender in its postseason debut, beating Miami in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament. The top-seeded Tar Heels (27-6) got 12 points from ACC player of the year Justin Jackson and held the smaller Hurricanes to 36 percent shooting, setting up a semifinal tonight against archrival Duke.

No. 11 West Virginia 63, Texas 53

KANSAS CITY, MO.

Jevon Carter scored 21 points, West Virginia cranked up its trademark defense and the Mountaineers cruised to a victory over Texas in the Big 12 Tournament quarterfinals. Playing almost the entire way for a team that regularly goes 12-deep, Carter poured in five 3-pointers and added three rebounds and three assists. And that was almost enough to single-handedly send West Virginia into the semifinals against ninth-ranked Baylor or Kansas State. The No. 2 seed Mountaineers (25-7) forced the Longhorns (11-22) into 14 turnovers, heled them scoreless for the final 5:34 of the game and turned freshman forward Jarrett Allen into a non-factor on offense as they avenged a loss to Texas in the quarterfinals of the 2014 tournament.

No. 14 Duke 81, No. 10 Louisville 77

Jayson Tatum scored 25 points and Grayson Allen provided an emotional lift during a second-half comeback as Duke beat Louisville. Allen scored 18 points and ACC leading scorer Luke Kennard had 24. For the second straight game, Kennard made big shots down the stretch for Duke. The sophomore’s 3 with 4:45 left in the second half gave Duke its first lead, 73-70, since the end of the first. Tatum’s 3 with 2:20 left made it 78-73 for the Blue Devils.

No. 16 Florida State 74, Virginia Tech 68

NEW YORK

Dwayne Bacon scored all but two of his 17 points in the second half and Florida State finally overpowered valiant Virginia Tech in the quarterfinals of the Atlantic Coast Conference Tournament.The second-seeded Seminoles (25-7) reached the semifinals for the first time since their 2012 championship and will play No. 22 Notre Dame.

Xavier 62, No. 18 Butler 57

NEW YORK

Trevon Bluiett scored 23 points, including a tough foul line jumper that broke the game’s final tie with 16 seconds left, and Xavier beat Butler in the quarterfinals of the Big East Tournament. Bluiett, who had six points in the first half, hit the winner over two defenders to make it 59-57. Butler missed two chances to tie or go ahead and Xavier added a free throw and a dunk at the buzzer for the final margin. The Musketeers (21-12) will face Creighton in the semifinals. It will be Xavier’s fourth appearance in the semifinals. Malcolm Bernard had 12 points and 10 rebounds for seventh-seeded Xavier, while Sean O’Mara had 10 points in a win that almost assures the Musketeers a bid to the NCAA Tournament.

No. 22 Notre Dame 71, No. 21 Virginia 58

Bonzie Colson had 21 points and 10 rebounds and Notre Dame beat Virginia for the first time since joining the Atlantic Coast Conference, topping the Cavaliers to reach the tournament semifinals. The Fighting Irish (24-8) will face No. 16 Florida State tonight.Devon Hall and Darius Thompson led Virginia (22-10) with 12 points each.

No. 23 Iowa State 92, Oklahoma State 83

KANSAS CITY, MO.

Monte Morris was an assist shy of the second triple-double in Big 12 Tournament history, leading Iowa State to a victory over Oklahoma State in the quarterfinals. Morris finished with 21 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists for the fourth-seeded Cyclones (21-10), who will carry their late-season season momentum into a semifinal matchup with TCU. Deonte Burton added 17 points and 10 rebounds, Naz Mitrou-Long had 14 points and Darrell Bowie had 13 for Iowa State.

Akron 79, Eastern Michigan 62

CLEVELAND

Isaiah Johnson had a double-double, Noah Robotham scored 19 points and No. 1 seed Akron beat Eastern Michigan to advance to the semifinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament. Johnson, the MAC player of the year, finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks and Josh Williams scored 11 for Akron (25-7), which will play Ball State in the semifinals on Friday. Robotham hit a 3-pointer and Johnson converted a 3-point play during an 11-0 run that made it 30-21 with 2:10 left in the half and the Zips led the rest of the way.
