Arcuri not enough as YSU baseball loses 23-9
MOREHEAD, KY.
Youngstown State senior outfielder Lorenzo Arcuri tied school records for home runs and total bases in a game as the Penguins fell 23-9 at Morehead State on Wednesday. The game was a continuation from Tuesday’s contest that was suspended after an inning, and Wednesday’s originally scheduled affair was canceled.
Arcuri became the third player in program history to hit three home runs in a game, and he is now also the third player to record 13 total bases in a single contest. He joined Eric Marzec (2008) and Jim Lipinski (2001) with three homers and Marzec (2008) and Rob Armstrong (1988) with 13 total bases.
Arcuri hit an RBI single in the first inning Tuesday night, and he homered in three of his four at bats on Wednesday. Over the two days, Arcuri went 4-for-5 with four runs scored and five RBIs. Kyle Benyo also homered, bringing YSU’s total for the season to 18 through 10 games. The Penguins hit 12 home runs in 2016.

Barcelona cap crazy Champions League win
barcelona, spain
Barcelona completed one of the most sensational comebacks in soccer by beating Paris Saint-Germain 6-1 to reach the Champions League quarterfinals on Wednesday, scoring the decisive goal of a 6-5 victory on aggregate in the fifth minute of stoppage.
Sergi Roberto’s dramatic late goal sent the Nou Camp wild and made Barcelona the first team ever to overturn a 4-0 first-leg defeat since the Champions League format started in 1992-93.
PSG seemed certain to go through after Edinson Cavani scored a valuable away goal following Barcelona’s opening salvo of three goals.
Barcelona needed three more goals to advance, and the feat seemed impossible even after Neymar scored with a free kick in the 88th minute.
But the Brazil striker scored a penalty in the 90th and then followed up with a chipped pass for substitute Roberto to steer the ball beyond goalkeeper Kevin Trapp in injury time.
The winner sent Barcelona’s bench flooding onto the pitch as the stadium celebrated.
Michigan team plane slides off runway
ypsilanti, mich.
The plane carrying the Michigan men’s basketball team slid off a runway during an aborted takeoff Wednesday, causing extensive damage. The team said everyone aboard was safe.
Team spokesman Tom Wywrot emailed reporters describing the incident at Willow Run Airport, about 15 miles from the campus in Ann Arbor. Michigan faces Illinois in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday in Washington, D.C.
Wywrot says the takeoff “was aborted” on a day marked by high winds and “after strong braking,” the plane slid off the runway and “sustained extensive damage.”
The team manager tweeted a brief video suggesting the plane skidded through a fence, across an access road and off a low embankment.
Wywrot said everyone aboard was safely evacuated and alternate travel arrangements were being made.
