BOARDMAN

A township woman who called 911 to report a burglary ended up behind bars.

Alexis Bonamase, 28, of Wolcott Drive, is charged with felony drug possession and misdemeanor possession of drug-abuse instruments after she called police to her home Sunday night.

There, Bonamase told police she had returned home that night to find the lights on and a back door open. She also said she heard “people walking on the first floor in the living room and dining room area” of the house, leading her to call 911 and hide in the basement with her two children.

When officers arrived, they found “nothing appeared to be missing or disturbed” and there were no signs of forced entry.

While checking a basement bedroom, however, police reportedly found a bag containing 6.6 grams of suspected heroin, a used syringe, a lighter, a paper towel “with numerous spots of blood,” and spoons with residue on them.

Bonamase reportedly denied the items belonged to her and told police she is in rehab and on probation.

In addition to the drug charges, police arrested Bonamase on a warrant for a probation violation. She was lodged in the Mahoning County jail pending a scheduled appearance today in Mahoning County Area Court. Mahoning County court records indicate Bonamase has had numerous run-ins with the law, including previous convictions on theft, disorderly conduct and unauthorized use of property charges.

Police also said a township man faces six theft charges after he was accused of snatching a woman’s wallet at Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive.

Charged is Jeffrey Bachani, 24, of Indianola Road. He also is charged with obstructing official business.

The charges stem from an incident reported about 8 p.m. Friday. According to police reports, Bachani took a wallet containing a driver’s license, $70 in cash, four credit cards and two debit cards, which he dropped while fleeing.

He was taken into custody on Andrea Lane near South Avenue and was lodged in the Mahoning County jail pending his arraignment today in area court.

County court records show Bachani has previously been convicted on a number of other offenses, including drug possession, disorderly conduct, receiving stolen property, burglary, and violating a protection order.

Also on Friday, township police arrested Eric Johnson, 28, of Youngstown, on a felony drug possession charge. Police said they found a bag of pain pills on him during a traffic stop. He also is scheduled to appear in court today.
