Mahoning County Probate Judge Robert N. Rusu, Jr. named Thomas M. Frost to serve on the Mill Creek MetroParks Board of Park Commissioners.
Frost is a Jackson Township trustee and a member of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County’s board of trustees. Frost previously worked for the U.S. Postal Service and served as a state and national union officer, according to a news release from the judge’s office Monday.
A screening committee vetted a total of 13 applicants and forwarded its recommendations to Judge Rusu. The park board’s next meeting is scheduled for 6 p.m. Monday at the MetroParks Farm.
Intoxicated man in home
AUSTINTOWN
A man and woman awoke early Saturday to find an apparently intoxicated man in their home, according to a police report.
Officers found Zachary Davenport, 23, of Austintown in the basement. Davenport reportedly seemed unaware of what was going on and smelled of alcohol.
The male resident told police Davenport entered their bedroom and he asked Davenport to leave the residence. The suspect went into the basement until officers arrived. The resident said Davenport appeared confused and could not figure out how to leave the house.
Trim on the front door was damaged, suggesting forced entry. Nothing else in the house appeared to be tampered with. Davenport is charged with burglary.
Pharmacist gets fired

After the state pharmacy board suspended the license of a pharmacist at Select Hospital Regional Pharmacy on Market Street, the company that operates the facility fired pharmacist Ernest Perrin, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV reported.
Select Medical confirmed to the television station Perrin was fired. He reportedly admitted diluting intravenous antibiotics, therefore giving patients less than their full dosage.
A letter to Perrin from the pharmacy board states that from about Jan. 1 through Feb. 23, nine vials of one particular drug were used to make 105 vials.
The state pharmacy board could pursue criminal charges against Perrin.
Parents OD, face charges

Parents who overdosed and were revived after their 5-year-old son called 911 face child-endangering charges, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV reported.
Facing drug and child-endangering charges are Timothy Kolsky Jr. and Sarah Williams, both 30, of East Connelly Boulevard. They were arrested Monday.
Their son had reportedly just learned in school how to dial 911. He called for help after finding both parents unresponsive. Kolsky reportedly overdosed on heroin, and Williams reportedly admitted to taking a prescription pain medication.
They are scheduled to be back in court March 22.
Crews fight 2 fires in city
YOUNGSTOWN
City firefighters Saturday battled two fires on the South and West sides. There were no injuries in either fire.
About 8:40 p.m. crews were called to a 501 Willis Ave. home on the South Side, where they found a fire on the front porch on a lawn chair. Reports said the homeowner was awakened by firefighters who responded, and he doesn’t know how the chair could have caught on fire. Damage is listed at $500. The cause is still under investigation.
About 4:25 p.m., crews were called to a 61 S. Maryland Ave. home on the West Side for a fire in the basement. Walls in the kitchen and basement had to be knocked down to put the fire out, reports said. Reports said a 5-year-old child in the home admitted playing with a lighter in the basement. Damage is listed at $6,000.
Community night set
CAMPBELL
Campbell K-7 School, 2002 Community Circle, will host a community night in the cafeteria from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The event is open to Campbell students in kindergarten through third grade and their families. Students will have the opportunity to participate in activities that promote health. There also will be activities for parents. Refreshments will be provided.
Man faces drug charges
AUSTINTOWN
Police charged a man with possessing drugs to which he claimed to have prescriptions, according to a report.
Police found Vito Weeks, 23, of Austintown, when responding to an accident. There were two warrants out on Weeks for charges related to a Feb. 24 overdose.
Weeks purportedly retrieved a cellophane wrapper containing 12 pills from his boot – 10 were Amploidipine, which is not a controlled substance, and the other two were Xanax, an anti-anxiety medication. Weeks faces charges of drug abuse and possessing dangerous drugs.
Women’s protest planned

A women’s protest will be at noon today in Women’s Park next to city hall on Mahoning Avenue Northwest as part of International Women’s Day. It will be “in opposition to the tyranny and misogyny of the [President Donald] Trump regime and in support of equality, peace, universal health care as well as racial, economic and gender justice,” said organizer Roxanne Lange of Newton Falls.
Finance panel to meet

New Brookfield CFO
BROOKFIELD
The Brookfield Board of Education approved Craig Yaniglos as its next chief financial officer for an 18-month contract at $48,000 annually. He previously served as the aquatic director in the Hubbard School District since 2005.
He plans to help the district implement department budgets to help create awareness of how the money is being spent. He also is making it a priority to get to know the staff. Yaniglos has a bachelor’s degree in economics from John Carroll University’s Boler School of Business. He also completed some graduate work through the University of Scranton Online in order to obtain his treasurer’s license.
Missing woman sought

Boardman Police are asking for your help to locate a missing woman. Billie Beshara, 48, was last seen Friday at her St. Albans Drive home, 21 WFMJ-TV, The Vindicator’s broadcast partner reported.
Detectives say her husband left her money to go grocery shopping Friday, and when he returned home, the money was still there but his wife was missing along with her 2012 Black Cadillac Escalade truck. The license plate is GPW2983.
