AUCTIONS
Girard Fraternal Order of Eagles, 26 W. Wilson Ave., will host a charity quarter auction Saturday at the Eagles Hall. It is a fundraiser for its Downs Syndrome and Autism chairty. Doors open at 6 p.m. and bidding begins at 7. Tickets are $10 per person and are available only in advance. Food and a paddle are included, extra paddles are $1 each. BOOK SALES
Columbiana Friends of the Library, 332 N. Middle St., will host a book sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. Paperbacks will be 25 cents; hardbacks, 50 cents; audio/visual material, $1. Bag of books for $3 begins at 3 p.m. There are more than 200 boxes of books of many genres. A preview sale for members will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday. Memberships will be available at $3 for individuals and $5 per family.
CRAFT SHOWS
Wedgewood Park Evangelical Church, 1944 S. Meridian Road, Austintown, will have a craft and vendor show from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
NIGHTS AT THE RACES
Newton Falls VFW Post 3332, 433 Arlington Road, will host a night at the races March 18. Admission is $25 and includes food and two drinks. There also will be a DJ and dancing. VFW District 8 Auxiliary will provide baskets for an auction. For information call Ray Schafer at 330-547-7722.
RAFFLES
Boardman Schools Fund for Educational Excellence, a component fund of the Community Foundation of the Mahoning Valley, is hosting its second annual reverse raffle dinner at 6 p.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn, Boardman. There will be a silent auction, 50-50 and basket raffles, and prizes drawn throughout the evening. The final ticket will be worth $2,000. Tickets are $50 each for dining and multiple chances to win. Proceeds will provide grants for teachers for projects beyond funding available by the board of education.
SALES
Austintown Community Church Preschool Childcare Center will host its annual trash and treasure sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 18 in the youth auditorium of the education wing of the church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road. Table rentals are available by calling the preschool office at 330-793-1843. There will be raffle baskets and drawings will take place at 12:45. Winners do not need to be present. Snacks, light lunch items and beverages will be available for purchase. Proceeds will go toward the purchase of developmentally appropriate resources for children.
Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield, has new and gently used clothing for the entire family. March specials include a winter clearance on everything in the shop excluding prom dresses and yellow tickets, spring items. All clearance items will be $1. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays.
North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will host a rummage sale from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Baked goods, food and beverages also will be available for purchase. For information, call 330-549-2333.
Wilmington Township Mercer County Civic League Quilters will have its 15th quilt show and sale from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 18 at the Municipal Building, 35 Auction Road, New Wilmington, Pa. Featured this year will be Gwen Isaac’s quilts. Isaac is from Pulaski and has been quilting for more than 40 years. Admission is $2 and refreshments will be available. A king-size cross-stitch quilt will be raffled at the annual garage sale May 13. Tickets may be purchased for $1 each, or six tickets for $5. Proceeds will benefit the scholarship fund. TRIPS
Alexander Hamilton/Idora Park Carousel trip planned for July 18 through 20. See where Hamilton lived, dueled, dined and died, and ride the Idora Park Carousel. Louisville, Ky., trip is being hosted by St. Paul Church of Salem on May 19 and 20. The cost is $239 per person and includes bus transportation, a double room, tickets to the Kentucky Derby Museum, a walking tour of Churchill Downs Racetrack, and a buffet dinner at Derby Dinner Playhouse followed by the play “Sister Act.” A $75 deposit is due with reservations by March 16, and the remaining amount is due by April 6.
