Once again, the King Kong legend will be resurrected in a film, when “Kong: Skull Island” opens Friday in theaters. Here are five other well-known cinematic iterations of the enormous ape:

v “King Kong”: The original, released on March 2, 1933

v “Son of Kong”: It didn’t take long for a sequel. This one was released Dec. 22, 1933, by the same production team

v “King Kong vs. Godzilla”: This 1962 Japanese-American collaboration pitted the nations’ two favorite beasts against each other. A remake is slated for a 2020 release.

v “King Kong Lives”: He’s alive and well in this 1986 film

v “King Kong”: Peter Jackson directed this 2005 remake of the original

“Origins: THE JOURNEY OF HUMANKIND” (9 P.M., NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC): This eight-part series celebrates the story of how we earthlings came to be so darn civilized. Part 1 looks at the way man harnessed fire.

Byrne and Kelly in return concert

CANFIELD

The Irish vocal duo Byrne and Kelly will return to the Youngstown area June 13 for an 8 p.m. concert at Drake’s Landing, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road.

Tickets are $35 ($55 for ticket and pre-show reception) and are available at byrneandkelly.com.

What began in 2012 as Celtic Thunder’s Neil Byrne and Ryan Kelly performing a series of shows together has become the duo Byrne and Kelly. Driven by vocal harmonies, Neil and Ryan blend traditional Irish and Americana to create a fresh, Celtic folk sound.

McInnis to speak at Packard hall

Jan McInnis will give a presentation at 10:30 a.m. March 15 at Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave., as part of the Trumbull Town Hall speaker series. Tickets are $35 at the Packard box office.

A comedian and professional speaker, McInnis is known for her clean comedy writing. In her address, she will give practical tips on handling life’s curveballs by using humor.

Her guidelines to mastering change are taken from her own experiences, leaving a regular job and heading out into the bumpy road of comedy.

An established comedy writer who has written for Jay Leno, McInnis also tours as co-star of the Baby Boomer Comedy Show.

A limited supply of her books will be sold in the Packard hall lobby.
