Submit info for Holy Week, Easter

The Vindicator will run a listing of area services that are open to the public in observance of Palm Sunday, April 9; Holy Thursday, April 13; Good Friday, April 14; Holy Saturday, April 15; and Easter, April 16.

The deadline to submit information is 5 p.m. March 28. Publication will be April 1.

Information should include the denomination and name of the church, address, city or suburb, the day, time, type of service, your name and a phone number for verification.

Fire damages home

HUBBARD

A fire broke out at a house on New York Lane on Saturday morning. A neighbor called to alert the fire department about 7:30 a.m., according to a report.

The smoke from the fire could reportedly be seen from the North Main Street area.

The two occupants of the home got out safely.

Officials began arriving on the scene within 15 minutes of the call. No injuries were reported. No cause was listed on the report.

Donations increase

Greenville, Pa.

Thiel College saw about a 50 percent increase in online donations compared with previous years for its annual Match Day giving event that took place last month.

On Feb. 21, 339 donors gave $174,254.13 to the Thiel Fund – the largest source of unrestricted funds for the college. Of these, 281 donors were alumni from the classes of 1950-2017.

Along with online and telephone donations, donors could mail donations and have them count toward the campaign as long as the donations were postmarked by Feb. 21.

Utility assistance

Utility-bill assistance under the Winter Crisis Program will be made available through the Trumbull Community Action Program through March 31.

Those who qualify receive help restoring their utilities in the event of a disconnect or aid establishing new service, and can also receive help purchasing fuel oil, propane, coal and wood.

People can apply for the service at the TCAP Warren office, 1230 Palmyra Road SW, or at one of the satellite sites in Hubbard, Niles, and Newton Falls. For times and more information, call TCAP at 330-393-2507, ext. 225.
