Woman indicted for crash that killed passenger

YOUNGSTOWN

A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a Boardman woman on a charge of involuntary manslaughter involving a passenger in her car who died after she crashed the vehicle trying to evade Boardman police.

Nicole Mitchell, 32, of Argyle Avenue, also faces charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, reckless homicide, theft, failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer and misdemeanor operating a motor vehicle while under the influence.

Police said Mitchell was driving a vehicle that led Boardman officers on a brief chase early Jan. 17, then crashed at Zedaker and Compton avenues on Youngs-town’s South Side. Taylor Duvall, 23, of Youngstown, was killed in the crash.

Police said the pair were fleeing after shoplifting from a Walgreens on Market Street in the township.

Also indicted on two felony counts of child endangering was Alicia Underwood, 22, of Jean Street in Campbell.

According to the indictment, Underwood is accused of abuse of an infant from Nov. 1 through Feb. 2. The baby was born on Oct. 28, according to court documents.

Others indicted by the grand jury were:

Dezmeon Allen, 18, East Florida Avenue, tampering with evidence, carrying concealed weapons and obstructing official business.

Malcolm North, 36, Rockview Avenue, trafficking in marijuana, possession of marijuana, aggravated possession of drugs, possession of drugs with forfeiture specifications and illegal use or possession of drug paraphernalia.

Ernest Cottle II, 32, Saranac Avenue, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and stopping after an accident.

Charles Crosby, 24, Oxford Avenue and Brian Niznik, 44, Wilson Street, Struthers, possession of cocaine with a forfeiture specification, tampering with evidence and possession of cocaine.

Heather Bailey, 30, and Brandon Billingsley, 34, both of Steubenville, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, four counts of receiving stolen property, grand theft and possessing a defaced firearm.

Matthew Koziorynsky, 22, Spring Street, Struthers, being a felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of grand theft, theft of drugs and theft.

Richard Massaro, 54, North Meridian Road, Austintown, theft.

Dominic Barbero, 40, Denver Drive, Poland, domestic violence.

Malcolm Carter, 23, Alameda Avenue, possession of heroin and possessing a drug instrument.

Deandre Fant, 29, Detroit Avenue, Tamika Croft, 25, Blacklick, Ohio, and Jalazia Green, 20, Tod Lane, tampering with evidence, being a felon in possession of a firearm, improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and trafficking in marijuana with forfeiture specifications.

Deon Jones, 33, Kendis Circle, tampering with evidence, possession of cocaine and failure to comply with the order or signal of a police officer.

Joshua Timlin, 32, New York Avenue, trafficking in cocaine with forfeiture specifications.

Jimmy Torres, 31, Ferndale Avenue, obstructing official business.

Alan Fairchild, 50, Pasadena Avenue, possession of cocaine.
