WARREN

Carlos D. Huff, 22, who was charged with felonious assault after a man accused Huff of shooting him at a house in the 2000 block of West Market Street on Feb. 16, was arraigned Tuesday on the charge.

A not-guilty plea was entered for him, and Judge Thomas Gysegem ordered that Huff remain in the Trumbull County jail without eligibility to make bond until his next hearing.

Jail records say Huff was arrested by Warren police and booked into the jail Monday morning.

Huff has addresses at the home on West Market Street and Miller Street Southwest.

Police said the victim, 30, of the city, suffered a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to the leg when he went to the door of the West Market address at 1:20 p.m. to “collect a debt.”

The victim said Huff, who came to the door from inside the house, had gone back inside after the shooting, leading police to surround the house and try to contact the suspect with use of a public address system on a police cruiser.

The victim went a short distance away from the house after being shot and was taken to the hospital by ambulance.

Police entered the home about 30 minutes after they arrived but found no one inside. Huff had been wanted on a warrant since the shooting.
