A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

June 25

Burglary: To a home in the 20 block of Rebecca Avenue through a rear door. Stolen was about $3,278 worth of items that included a refrigerator, two TVs and an entertainment center.

Domestic violence: Daniel P. Root, 37, of Main Street, Hubbard, was charged with the crime after his mother alleged Root has made continual threats and taunts against her, causing the accuser to fear for her safety.

Arrest: Police in the 200 block of School Street pulled over and took into custody Monica D. Boor, 29, upon learning that she was wanted on a Campbell warrant charging her with violating a court order. Boor, of Bedford Road, Brookfield, also was cited on a charge of driving under suspension.

June 26

Harassment: A Hillcrest Drive woman reported having received a call from someone who threatened to shoot another person.

June 27

Theft: An Elmwood Drive woman learned that $1,056 had been removed from her bank account, leaving a negative $131 balance.

LIBERTY

June 25

Assault: A man stated his daughter had been assaulted at a nearby fast-food restaurant, all of which led to charges of assault, criminal damaging and drug possession against William E. Lowry, 26, of Indiana Avenue, McDonald, after his girlfriend alleged Lowry had struck her face, threw food at the accuser and broke her car’s rearview mirror. Lowry also was charged with bringing prohibited items to a detention facility, a fifth-degree felony, when, authorities alleged, he had a bag of suspected LSD tabs in his pocket while in a temporary holding facility.

Counterfeit: The owner of a Belmont Avenue landscaping company reported having gotten three counterfeit business checks.

Felonious assault: After tracking a series of 911 calls, police charged Lewis C. Fortune III, 34, of Colonial Drive, Liberty, with felonious assault and domestic violence after his girlfriend alleged that during an argument, Fortune had struck her head and face while strangling the accuser, then threw her out of the residence and locked the door. The victim was found a short time later at a Goldie Road business with strangulation marks on her neck as well as blood on her shirt and coming from her nose, a report stated.

Arrest: A vehicle check on Goldie Road resulted in the arrest of Daron N. Little, 51, of Madison Street, Campbell, on misdemeanor charges of criminal simulation and possession of drug paraphernalia. Found in Little’s car were a phony $100 bill and a suspected crack-cocaine pipe, authorities alleged.

June 26

Arrest: Police responded to possible threats at a Motor Inn Drive motel, where they charged Steven A. Prest, 34, of Girard, with aggravated menacing, vandalism and criminal trespassing. A clerk alleged he had threatened to beat her up after she informed Prest that he was behind in his rent. He also kicked a door frame and caused considerable damage to his room, she further alleged.

Assault: An employee with a Goldie Road big-box store alleged a customer punched his head, knocking the accuser to the ground, after the worker informed the customer that his infant child had taken candy while in a check-out line.

Theft: A Will-o-Wood Drive man reported a loaded handgun and an iPod device missing from his car.

June 27

Disrupting public services: Authorities issued a warrant against a 29-year-old Liberty man after a Trumbull Court woman alleged he had punched her face and destroyed her phone as she tried to call 911.

Arrest: Officers answered a call about a male breaking into vehicles in the 200 block of Potters Circle, then charged Brian C. Butler Jr. of Royal Arms Drive, Girard, with criminal trespassing, carrying a concealed weapon and attempted theft after alleging Butler, 22, had a knife. Several residents discovered their cars had been entered, though it appeared little if anything was missing, a report showed.

Drugs: While answering a possible domestic-violence call at a Trumbull Court residence, police cited Teqwan I. Scott, 22, on a charge of marijuana possession. Scott, of Marion Street, Struthers, had a bag of suspected marijuana in his car, authorities said.

Theft: A Colonial Drive woman reported a $1,200 laptop computer and smaller items had been removed from her vehicle.

Assault: A woman alleged a Youngstown woman in her 20s came to her Madison Road apartment, then punched her head and face, leaving several cuts as well as swelling to her forehead.

June 29

Trespassing: Police charged Robert J. Nix, 34, with criminal trespassing after the North Olmsted man reportedly refused to leave a Motor Inn Drive motel after having been terminated from a job and having his room reservation canceled.

GIRARD

June 25

Criminal mischief: An East Second Street man discovered someone had tossed a watermelon at and damaged his vehicle’s rearview mirror. Damage was estimated at $300.

Arrest: Austintown police handed to Girard authorities Michael W. Lusby, 38, of North Avenue, Girard, who was accused of failing to appear in court on a marijuana-possession charge.

Burglary: Took place in the 300 block of East Wilson Avenue, though it appeared nothing had been stolen.

Attempted theft: A worker for a North State Street restaurant who was on a break reported having seen a man rummaging through his vehicle before the person fled on a bicycle.

Citation: Police reported having seen a man stumbling in a grassy area near Trumbull Avenue before citing Evan L. Hall, no information given, on a charge of public intoxication.

Theft: A Trumbull Avenue couple alleged a man who had stayed at their residence stole a cellphone and a house key after an argument.

Arrest: An officer reported having seen a possibly intoxicated person on East Second Street before authorities charged Dominic J. Cella, 21, of Riverview Drive, Leavittsburg, with disorderly conduct while intoxicated. Cella refused to comply with police on a few occasions, a report showed.

June 26

Menacing: A woman alleged a man had threatened her and charged at the accuser while they were at a Church Hill Road funeral home.

Menacing: An East Wilson Avenue man said his former girlfriend continually calls him and circles the accuser’s home in a pickup truck.

Criminal mischief: A woman discovered a front window screen to her North Highland Avenue home had been damaged, likely by two rocks that were found nearby.

Menacing: A Gordon Street woman told police her 12-year-old grandson has received threatening correspondence via Instagram, including a threat that he could be shot.

Trespassing: Officers noticed an unoccupied vehicle near a set of railroad tracks and a viaduct off Byers Street, then issued summonses charging two Girard boys, 14 and 17, with criminal trespassing. The teens were on private property, a report said.

June 28

Burglary: Authorities charged Chalise M. Gibson-Canty of Folsom Street Northwest, Warren, with burglary and criminal trespassing after her former husband alleged Gibson-Canty, 35, had broken into his Church Hill Road apartment through a window. She also had been warned to stay off the property, a report stated.

Menacing: Police received a complaint that an Ohio Avenue man had yelled at several children as they rode their bicycles past his residence, and that he reportedly had threatened to beat up one of the youngsters.

Harassment: A Hazel Street woman alleged a neighbor had threatened her as part of a pattern of harassment. The neighbor alleged the woman had videotaped him without his consent.

June 29

Criminal mischief: Someone in the 500 block of Church Hill Road threw a beer bottle while driving in the 500 block of Church Hill Road and broke a car’s windshield. The damage estimate was $250.
