Children in the pre-kindergarten class at Canfield United Methodist Preschool visited the Canfield library for a special story time with Children’s Librarian Jane Adams on May 18. Building off a spring theme, Adams read the children several books about bugs, caterpillars and bees.

Adams read the children “Big Bugs,” “Three Little Caterpillars,” “The Hungry Caterpillar,” “The Mixed Up Caterpillar” and “Buzz, Buzz Busy Bees.”

Adams also led the children in singing “There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Fly,” complete with a doll who swallowed the fly. She also led the children in a version of “Wheels on the Bus,” but used lyrics related to bugs.

Adams also led them in two bug dances, with help from a large video screen. The children danced to the tunes and kept the beat with shakers provided by the library. The children’s teachers, Ellen VanDussen and Brenda Williams, also joined in on the dance party, along with Adams.
