Murder suspect indicted on grand theft charges

YOUNGSTOWN

Austin T. Burke, 18, of Bristolville, was indicted on a charge of grand theft. He’s accused of stealing a car on Feb. 2. Burke was apprehended by Springfield Township police.

This is Burke’s second indictment in two weeks. A Trumbull County grand jury indicted Burke on Monday on aggravated murder among other charges.

Burke is accused of killing Brandon Sample, whose body was found in a remote area of Bristol on June 15.

The indictment revealed that prosecutors believed Sample was killed during an armed robbery on June 12.

Burke also is accused of the armed robbery of the Pizza Joe’s restaurant in Cortland June 20.

Burke was convicted for aggravated burglary with a firearm in Girard at age 16. The burglary involved theft of several guns from a home in the city.

He is being held in Trumbull County jail on $1 million bond.
