Thiel College accepting additional scholarship applications

Staff report

GREENVILLE, PA.

Thiel College is accepting additional applications for the Marion G. Resch Science Scholarship program.

Students can apply for one of five remaining scholarships that can be used as early as this fall, according to a college news release.

Resch Science Scholarships are exclusive to home-schooled graduates and graduates from high schools in the Ohio counties of Mahoning, Columbiana and Trumbull six months before their first freshman semester at Thiel.

To bolster interest in the natural and physical sciences, 50 percent of all available Resch scholarships are provisionally reserved for women.

More than 60 Mahoning Valley high-school graduates have benefited from the scholarship since its inception in 2006. The scholarship is named in memory of the late philanthropist Marion G. Resch, a respected member of the Mahoning Valley community. The Resch Foundation is committed to promoting the education of young people throughout the Mahoning Valley.

Students qualifying for a Resch scholarship must plan to enroll as a full-time student in biology, chemistry, environmental sciences, physics, communication sciences and disorders, secondary education in science, neuroscience, or an affiliated pre-professional program at Thiel.

Additional information and the application are available online at www.thiel.edu/financial_aid. The fall 2017 submission deadline has been extended to Aug. 1.
