Poland Idol seeks singers to compete

POLAND

Poland Idol singing competition is seeking contestants for the annual event, which will take place July 1 at noon in the gazebo at Poland Village Hall. To register, call Cindy at 330-651-2999. Registration also can be done the day of the event between 10:30 and 11:45 a.m. at the gazebo. Fee is $20. There are four age categories: K-4th grade; 5th-8th grade; high school; and adult. Prizes will be awarded for the top three finishers in each category. Contestants should bring a karaoke CD or a downloaded CD with music only.

Summer Jam show coming to Covelli

YOUNGSTOWN

Summer Jam, featuring Doug E. Fresh and Shock G, will come to Covelli Centre on Aug. 5 for a 7 p.m. show.

Also on the bill are Lords of the Underground, Nice and Smooth and Rufus Blaq.

Italian Fest seeks makers of beer, wine

The Greater Youngstown Italian Fest homemade wine and beer contest will take place Aug. 6. Home brewers who wish to enter the contest should call Bob Rubano at 330-689-8604 to enter their beer, wine or mead. Trophies and medals will be awarded.

Skynyrd drummer in art exhibition

An exhibition of art by Michael Cartellone, drummer for Lynyrd Skynyrd and a Cleveland native, will go on display July 8 at Wentworth Galleries. Cartellone will appear at the venue from 1-4 p.m. Admission is free.
