The fourth-grade class from Dobbins Elementary celebrated the end of the school year on May 23 at their Fourth Grade Celebration at Poland Middle School.

The Fourth Grade Celebration is put together by the PTO and the school to give the students an opportunity to bring the school year to a close in a fun way. This year the theme was Dr. Seuss’s “Oh, the Places You’ll Go.”

During the school day, the students took a tour of McKinley to see where they would be attending school after the summer. The family members who attended the celebration after school had the opportunity to walk around the building with their children to see what the students had toured during the day.

“This is the last group of fourth graders who started in kindergarten and went all the way through fourth grade at Dobbins,” said Theresa Rapp, PTO member.

The celebration took place in a few different areas. The gym had a photobooth for students to take pictures with friends and family members and a gift bag for the students full of Poland gear. In the cafeteria there was a table filled with snacks, a backdrop and props for pictures and plenty of tables for people to sit and talk with each other.

There are 118 students in the fourth-grade class and most, if not all, of them attended the celebration.

“It’s a chance to get dressed up and hang out outside the school,” said Rapp.

To wrap up the celebration, the guests went to another room where the students put on a musical performance and watched a video that was created with memories from the school year.
