ASSOCIATIONS

Guilford Lake Civic Association will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Guilford Lake Ruritan Hall, state Route 172. Burt Dawson, county engineer, will be the speaker.

Mill Creek Chapter of American Business Women’s Association will meet at 6 p.m. July 11 at the Georgeanna Parker Center in Boardman Park. The meeting will begin with networking followed by dinner at 6:30 p.m. Menu consists of chicken as the main dish, and each member is to bring a covered dish. Installation of officers will take place. Steve Tackett, author of “Awakenings: The Essential Guide to Metaphysics,” will host an open forum on the last Wednesday of each month from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at The Yoga Center, 972 Youngstown Kingsville Rd., route 193, Vienna. Salem Historical Society Museum, 208 South Broadway, will feature a “Sunday Go To Meeting” exhibit Sunday. The Museum and the Garden Gift Shop will be open from 1 to 4 p.m., and the last tour begins at 3:30 p.m. The Museum and Gift Shop, 239 S. SUPPORT GROUPS

Diabetes Partnership of the Mahoning Valley will meet at 6:30 p.m. July 5 at Stonebridge Grille and Tavern, 1497 Boardman Canfield Road, Boardman. There will be discussion of upcoming events. Volunteers and donations are needed for the Aug. 18 annual Ankle and Foot Health Care Centers golf outing. Also needed are sponsors, basket items for auction and volunteers for the Canfield Fair.

F.O.C.U.S., a breast cancer support group, will meet at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Davidson’s Restaurant, 3636 Canfield Road, Canfield. All breast cancer survivors and supporters are welcome. For directions call the restaurant at 330-793-0033.

Friendship Train 12-Step Support Group is now meeting from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesdays at Rising Star Baptist Church, 2943 Wardle Ave. People who are trying to overcome any addiction are welcome and encouraged to attend. Those attending should enter through the church’s lower parking lot off Wardle.

NAMI Mahoning Valley offers support groups for those who deal with mental illness. Support groups follow: Girard Family Support, first Thursday of each month at 11 a.m. at the Girard Library, 105 E. Parents Without Partners will have a picnic supper, open to the public, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. July 1, at the Ritchie Memorial Shelter House, 109 West Avenue, Tallmadge. The chapter will furnish hamburgers and hot dogs. Just bring a covered dish to share. Afterwards, from 7:30 to 11 p.m., the chapter will hold its monthly dance. The dance theme is “Red, White and Blue” with music provided by disk jockey, Mel. The dance is also open to the public at a cost of $6 for members and $8 for nonmembers. Parents Without Partners, Portage County Chapter 600 of International Parents Without Partners, is a single-parent support group. R-Weigh Weight Support Groups meet on Mondays at First Friends Church, 1028 Jennings Ave., Salem. Afternoon weigh-in is from 1 to 1:30 p.m., and the meeting will follow at 1:45. Evening weigh-ins are from 5 to 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:15. The first meeting is free. Guests are welcome. The club is an all-volunteer, nonprofit group of women helping women to lose weight. All money paid returns to the members in incentives to lose weight.
