A summary of recent criminal activity in Poland and Boardman townships:

POLAND

June 16

Theft: American flags were removed from two residences, one each in the 2100 and 3100 blocks of Heatherbrae Drive.

June 18

Burglary: To a residence in the 3600 block of Timberbrooke Trail, though no signs of forced entry were found. A double-pane window and various shrubs were damaged.

BOARDMAN

June 16

Theft: While answering a shoplifting call at Giant Eagle, 1201 Doral Drive, authorities charged Thomas E. Eagen, 25, of Clarencedale Avenue, Youngstown, with theft, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of criminal tools after alleging Eagen had in a backpack a knife used to cut packaging to the stolen merchandise.

Citation: During a traffic stop near Midlothian Boulevard, officers handed a minor-misdemeanor citation to Dewaylon A. Clark, 30, of Glenwood Avenue, Boardman, charging him with having 1.3 grams of suspected marijuana.

Identity theft: A Boardman-Canfield Road woman reported a caller who claimed she qualified for a $100 rebate on her phone bill tricked her into verifying her personal-identification number before she learned from the phone company that no such rebate had been offered.

Theft: A Forest Park Drive man alleged his former roommate placed $1,000 in charges to his debit card without permission and refused to return the card to the accuser.

Citation: A traffic stop near Wildwood Drive led to a minor-misdemeanor citation charging Dawon T. Roddy, 31, of Wildwood, Boardman, with having a small quantity of suspected marijuana.

Theft: A man reportedly stole a $20 pair of sunglasses from Kohl’s.

Assault: Police received information that a resident of a South Avenue care facility had punched another resident’s nose, though the victim was not injured.

Theft: A woman discovered a pair of pajamas and a TV were missing from a room at a Market Street motel.

Theft/damage: A trailer in the 4000 block of South Avenue was found with a license plate missing and a bracket that had been bent.

Theft: Two women reportedly stole 33 cosmetics items valued at $978 from Ulta Beauty, 403 Boardman-Poland Road.

Theft: Sarah A. Armeni, 23, of Elm Street, Struthers, and Margaret M. Carroll, 25, of Mauro Circle, Warren, were charged with stealing $220 worth of property, including a wristwatch, from Kohl’s, 383 Boardman-Poland Road.

June 17

Arrest: A vehicle check near Hillman Street led to the arrest of James H. Edmonds, 32, of Hilton Avenue, Youngstown, on a charge of obstructing official business. Edmonds gave police his brother’s name to avoid possibly going to jail, a report showed.

Aggravated menacing: The property owner of an apartment complex in the 3900 block of South Schenley Avenue alleged a tenant had threatened to shoot him as the accuser gathered trash after saying the victim was too close to a vehicle.

Theft: A Poland man told police another man stole $20 from the accuser in a self-checkout line at a Doral Drive big-box store.

Theft: A woman in a blue shirt and shorts reportedly entered Rogue Wave Auto Wash, 6191 South Ave., through a rear door, then removed $45 from a tip jar.

Drugs: After pulling her over near Market Street, authorities charged Melissa A. Rapp of West Lincoln Way, Lisbon, with a felony drug-abuse count after alleging Rapp, 36, had a crumpled piece of paper that contained a brown substance likely to have been suspected heroin.

Theft: Four women reportedly left Steak ‘n’ Shake, 6786 Applewood Blvd., without paying their $47 food bill.

Harassment: A Grover Drive woman said she’s received such text messages.

Theft: A Bonnie Place woman discovered her purse and cellphone had been taken from near her front door.

Citation: Police responded to a two-car crash near Market Street before issuing a minor-misdemeanor citation charging De’Shawn T. Donlow Sr., 34, of Almyra Avenue, Youngstown, with having a suspected marijuana cigarette.

Citations: While responding to a suspicious person in the 800 block of Indianola Road, officers wrote minor-misdemeanor citations charging a 16-year-old Boardman boy with possession of drug paraphernalia as well as a 17-year-old township boy with possessing a nicotine product. Both also were cited on curfew-violation charges.

Trespassing: Austintown police handed to Boardman authorities Jeremy S. Adams, 32, of Elk Road, Canfield, who was wanted on a criminal-trespassing charge, related to a July 2016 situation in which Adams was reportedly using an automated teller machine in Walmart, 1300 Doral Drive, in violation of a trespassing warning to stay out of the big-box store.

June 18

Assault: A woman alleged her former girlfriend’s brother pushed her to the ground during an argument at her Aravesta Avenue apartment.

Burglary: A man told police he found an intoxicated woman in her 30s in his second-floor apartment in the 4100 block of Glenwood Avenue, though nothing appeared to have been stolen.

Theft: A worker for a Boardman-Poland Road pizzeria noticed her $800 cellphone missing after having assisted a customer.

Criminal damaging: Someone in the 500 block of Oakridge Drive shot a vehicle with a pellet gun and did and estimated $350 in damage.

Misuse of a credit card: A Leighton Avenue woman found out a credit card that had been removed from her car was declined at an Austintown drug store.

Theft: A Leighton Avenue man reported his wallet stolen from his car.

June 19

Arrest: While conducting a welfare check at a Sigle Lane residence, authorities charged Saleem M. Khan, 36, of Sigle, Boardman, with obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia after alleging Khan had refused several times to follow officers’ commands to get out of bed and engaged in a brief struggle with them. He also had a metal pipe for drug use, a report said.

Criminal damaging: A vehicle check in the 7300 block of Market Street resulted in the arrest of Michael P. Vitko, 19, of West South Range Road, Salem, on a criminal-damaging charge, related to a Jan. 25 incident in which someone in a truck did about $1,000 in lawn damage to a California Avenue chiropractor’s office.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle: An Aravesta Avenue man said his 2004 PT Cruiser had been taken without permission.

Theft by deception: Officers at the Washington County, Pa., jail took custody of Joseph M. Hampson, 36, of McDonald, Pa., who was wanted on a felony theft-by-deception charge. In May 2014, two men reported losing $2,500 in a fraudulent investment scheme after having agreed to meet Hampson at the former TGI Friday’s restaurant on Tiffany Boulevard.

Theft: Kyle J. Kent, 19, was booked on a theft charge. Kent, of Starwick Drive, Canfield, was accused of stealing a $20 pair of sunglasses from Kohl’s.

Fraud: The owner of a Boardman-Canfield Road nail salon reportedly discovered three unauthorized transactions totaling $7,521 had been made to the business’s account.

Theft: A Poland woman reported her wallet stolen while she was at a South Avenue big-box store.

Identity theft: A Midwood Circle man told police he called a toll-free number and was tricked into providing his credit-card information and Social Security number as well as $200 to supposedly remove a virus from his computer before realizing it was a scam. The victim filed a report with the Ohio attorney general’s office.

Menacing: A woman alleged her former boyfriend continually drives past her Claybourne Avenue home and honks his horn.

Theft: A Boardman man told authorities that he provided a woman a ride from a Market Street drug store before she reportedly stole 21 over-the-counter pills from him.

Theft: A woman reportedly stole $87 worth of spare ribs and other items from Walmart.

June 20

Arrest: Authorities phone booked Cassie A. Stercula, 29, on a charge of complicity to attempted theft after alleging Stercula, of Maryland Street, Warren, had been part of an attempted theft at Walmart.

Identity fraud: Linda S. Olsavsky, 49, of Tippecanoe Road, Boardman, surrendered on one felony count each of identity fraud and telecommunications fraud after her former boyfriend, of Berlin Center, alleged that in April, Olsavsky altered a check he had written to her, withdrew money from the accuser’s bank account without authorization and used his personal information to hack into two of his email accounts.

Theft: Adriann Bunch, 44, of Sheridan Road, Youngstown, surrendered on an aggravated-theft charge, a third-degree felony, after an official with State Alarm Inc., 5956 Market Street, alleged that while checking payroll activity last month, she discovered Bunch had overpaid herself over a four-year period, resulting in at least a $200,000 loss to the business.

Theft: Two women reportedly fled on foot after having taken 30 articles of clothing valued at $887 from Dick’s Sporting Goods, 550 Boardman-Poland Road.

Misuse of a credit card: A Youngstown man learned that his stolen credit card was used without authorization at three Southern Park Mall stores.

Menacing: An employee with a Tiffany Boulevard business alleged her former boyfriend has been stalking her at work.

Bad checks: The owner of a Market Street pet store discovered three checks had been stolen from the business, and that two were cashed for $275.

Assault: A designated driver alleged an intoxicated woman to whom she had given a ride struck her right arm after dropping her cellphone and thinking the victim had taken it. The incident occurred near West Western Reserve and Hitchcock roads.

Arrest: A traffic stop near Market Street resulted in the arrest of John D. Johnson, 28, of Shirley Road, Youngstown, on charges of obstructing official business, resisting arrest and possession of drug paraphernalia after police alleged he fled on foot during the arrest after having tried to push an officer. In addition, Johnson, who also was wanted on three warrants, had a digital scale with suspected cocaine residue, a report showed.

Arrest: Authorities at Boardman Area Court on Market Street booked Johonna L. Hull, 18, who listed addresses on Callahan Road in Canfield and Land Street in East Liverpool. She faced one misdemeanor count each of patient abuse and tampering with records.

Theft: Belinda R. Shaffer, 39, of Pasadena Avenue, Youngstown, was charged in the theft of nine grocery items from Walmart.

Bad check: A Wildwood Drive woman reported getting a suspicious $7,897 check and accompanying letter claiming she had won a second-place prize in a sweepstakes drawing.
