Mahoning County’s St. Vincent DePaul Society will be serving meals outside today after the upstairs ceiling collapsed Tuesday.

“I was downstairs,” said Manager Wayne Murray. “I heard a large crash. We went upstairs and saw a collapse.”

Though the ceiling of the dining room was not affected, Murray said the building will be closed to guests and volunteers until a safety inspection is completed.

Guests can pick up a hot meal in take-out containers in the parking lot across from the dining hall today between 10:30 a.m. and noon. Murray said meals may be served outside the rest of the week.

A Youngstown man faces numerous charges after an incident reported at Primanti Bros. restaurant Monday night.

According to a report, township police were called to the restaurant shortly before midnight about an intoxicated customer.

David Carrabia, 46, of Wayside Drive, had been exhibiting strange behavior, harassing a female bartender and throwing chairs around the restaurant, witnesses told police.

When police attempted to put Carrabia in handcuffs, he reportedly resisted, leading an officer to use a stun gun to subdue him. He faces charges of obstructing official business, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct.

Councilman resigns

First Ward City Councilman Benjamin Kyle, a Democrat, has announced his resignation due to a residency change.

Kyle has moved from Hubbard’s 1st Ward to the 4th Ward.

His term would have expired Dec. 31. Local Democratic Party committee members will appoint his replacement.

Kyle has filed to run this November for a two-year term as councilman-at-large.

Warren armed robbery

WARREN

A man, 29, suffered a minor injury when he was robbed at gunpoint by three men on North Park Avenue near Idylwild Street at 9:50 p.m. Monday.

The man said he saw the three men on the other side of North Park crossing the street toward him as he walked north.

One of them pushed him and another one struck him in the back of the head, knocking him to the ground. Then one of them put a gun to his face and demanded his wallet, cellphone and other valuables, which he gave them. He called 911 from home and went to ValleyCare Trumbull Memorial Hospital for treatment.
