Scavenger hunt for history buffs

YOUNGSTOWN

The Mahoning Valley Historical Society will have a road trip scavenger hunt Friday that will test participants’ knowledge of local history.

Individuals or teams will begin their vehicular adventure at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., downtown, with a set of clues directing them to six landmark sites throughout the Valley. A “lifeline” will be available for those who are stumped along the way.

Participants must bring a smartphone or digital camera to record the landmarks. The final clue will lead hunters to the finish line for a casual pizza party with soft drinks (other beverages are BYOB).

Registration begins at 5 p.m., race starts at 5:30 p.m. Independent transportation is required. The cost is $5 per person. Call 330-743-2589 for information or to sign up.

Infant Jesus of Prague Byzantine Catholic Church’s second annual Food Fest will take place Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the St. Michael Social Center, 405 Robinson Road. Eastern European food available for purchase will include halupki, haluski, pierogi, kielbassi and sauerkraut, plus baked goods. The event will also include music.
