Invited to apply to Rayen Early College

YOUNGSTOWN

Rayen Early College Intermediate School will be sending letters to students who live within the school district but attend other schools to invite them to apply.

This coming school year, REC is expanding to include fourth- and fifth-graders. The school, housed at the Chaney Campus at 731 S. Hazelwood Ave., offers a rigorous curriculum. REC is a feeder school to Youngstown Early College.

At YEC, students complete most of their high-school courses during their freshman and sophomore years and free Youngstown State University college courses during their junior and senior years. Those college courses allow students to earn an associate degree at the same time they get their high-school diploma. Applications to REC are included with the letters.
