Thousands of people gathered together for the 13th biannual spring Baby Bargain Boutique at Boardman Park on May 20.
More than 150 vendors set up tents and tables to sell gently used items, such as clothes and toys, to the shoppers who attended the event. There were no commercial vendors, only families who sold items to other families. Families selling to other families helps bring a sense of togetherness and bonding within the community.
Several vendors come to both events, and have been coming for many years. There are also new vendors who have shopped at the boutique, but never sold anything. The new vendors enjoy helping out families like they have been helped out.
“I came with my friends to help prepare for a our friend’s baby shower,” said Katie Pugh.
Those who come to shop come for various reasons. They buy things for baby showers, their children, their family or friends’ children and as gifts for a birthday or holiday.
The vendors and shoppers are the ones who continue to make the Baby Bargain Boutique a success because of their commitment to the event. Those who continuously come to one or both events year after year help bring the community together while having fun shopping.
The fall Baby Bargain Boutique will take place again at Boardman Park in September.
