UPDATE | Police said woman dies after South Side shooting

YOUNGSTOWN — Lt. Doug Bobovnyik confirmed shortly before 9 a.m. a woman shot on Market Street at Indianola Avenue on the South Side's Uptown District has died.

Bobovnyik said a 59-year-old man was taken into custody and is awaiting questioning. The 46-year-old woman died of gunshot wounds at St Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital.

The suspect surrendered when he was confronted by a patrol officer, Bobovnyik said.
