Models sport slogans painted on bare bodies

NEW YORK

Dozens of people have gathered in Times Square to tell the naked truth – or tell the truth naked.

Brooke Champlain stood nude in one of New York’s busiest areas June 9 with the slogan “We’re All Just Stardust” painted around her bellybutton during Body Notes, an event organizers say was designed to uplift people.

The nude models were painted in view of gawking tourists and heavily armed police. Brushed onto their bare torsos were pithy slogans, including, “Embrace Love And Life” and “Born Naked.”

Body Notes is the brainchild of Andy Golub, producer of NYC Bodypainting Day. He says it lets people express themselves through “their words and their bodies.”

Piano-playing bear strikes viral chord at apartment

VAIL, Colo.

Police say it wasn’t a burglary – just a black bear that stomped, briefly, on piano keys while rummaging through an apartment in Colorado.

The revelation came after Katie Hawley reported her Vail apartment had been disturbed while she was away May 31.

She later checked security camera footage and saw the bear roaming the apartment and pouncing on piano keys.

Police Detective Sgt. Luke Causey says the bear had climbed through an open window and helped itself to food from the freezer.

The video struck a viral chord last week on the internet.

Western Mich. city breaks sand angel world record

LUDINGTON, Mich.

A western Michigan city has broken a mark set by the Guinness World Records for the most people simultaneously making sand angels at a beach.

The Ludington Daily News and The Muskegon Chronicle report 1,387 people angelically assembled on a Lake Michigan beachfront in Ludington on June 10 and worked their magic for 30 seconds. That far surpasses the roughly 350 who made sand angels for 15 seconds two years ago in Pembrokeshire, Wales.

A Guinness judge verified the record.

The event, which had a $20 suggested donation, raised money for the hospital’s cancer service center.
