A summary of recent criminal activity in Hubbard, Liberty and Girard:

HUBBARD

June 9

Harassment: A Mackey Street man told officers a 23-year-old Hubbard man to whom he had loaned a set of jumper cables has continually made unwanted contact with him.

June 10

Theft: Howard G. Ahart, 54, of Lloyd Avenue, Youngstown, was charged with theft and possession of criminal tools after $86 worth of steaks and shrimp was stolen from Save-a-Lot, 880 W. Liberty St. Police also seized Ahart’s backpack, a report said.

June 11

Theft: A 12-year-old Hubbard girl reported her brother’s $125 bicycle stolen while she was at a North Main Street pizzeria.

June 13

Identity fraud: A Jackson Street woman found out someone had set up a $1,700 account in her name that was placed with a collection agency and that she had not authorized.

Theft: A man reportedly stole a box of ice cream bars from Dairy Queen, 119 Youngstown-Hubbard Road, and fled on foot.

LIBERTY

June 9

Arrest: Police were dispatched to the Mahoning County jail to pick up Richard E. Martin, 21, of East Garfield Avenue, New Springfield. Martin was wanted on a township warrant accusing him of failing to appear in court on a theft charge.

Theft: James L. Mills, 31, of Leighton Avenue, Boardman, was charged with stealing $408 worth of baby clothing and other items from Walmart, 200 Goldie Road. Mills also was wanted on a Hermitage, Pa., warrant charging theft.

Pursuit: A traffic stop near Colonial Drive resulted in a foot chase with a Youngstown man, 25, who was wanted on several felony warrants. Additional charges were pending.

Assault: A Hubbard woman alleged that while in the 4500 block of Park Street, her former husband struck her several times in the head as she prepared to pick up her son. Also, the victim’s mother alleged the man had spit on her and tried to punch her.

June 10

Burglary: To an apartment in the 200 block of Colonial Drive through a side door. A 42-inch flat-screen TV, a TV/DVD player and a door frame were damaged.

Drug paraphernalia: Police on Gypsy Lane pulled over and arrested Javon M. McDonald, 19, of Truman Avenue, Youngstown, when, they alleged, McDonald had in his car a digital scale with a leafy substance.

Counterfeit: Two women and a man reportedly passed six counterfeit $100 bills at a Belmont Avenue big-box store.

Weapons: After pulling him over near North Gate Drive, authorities charged Nathaniel D. Clark, 45, of East Auburndale Avenue, Youngstown, with carrying a concealed weapon, being a convicted felon with a firearm, improper handling of a firearm in a motor vehicle, obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Clark, who had a loaded 9 mm handgun, a set of brass knuckles and a large carving knife in the car, failed to comply with officers’ commands and briefly struggled with them, a report stated.

Indecency: Suspicious activity in a vehicle in the 3000 block of Green Acres Drive caught an officer’s attention before police charged Cameron T. Williams, 24, of Prindle Avenue, Sharon, Pa., with public indecency, criminal trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor, along with a 17-year-old Youngstown boy with public indecency, criminal trespassing and obstructing official business. It appeared that authorities interrupted possible sexual activity in the car, a report alleged.

Arrest: Authorities responded to suspicious activity in the 500 block of Gypsy Lane, where they charged Matthew J. Brink, 19, of Huntmere Avenue, Austintown, with obstructing official business. Brink changed his story and provided misleading information as to why he was at the location, police said.

June 11

Drugs: Officers received information about an unresponsive person in a van in the 3100 block of Belmont Avenue, where they charged Jonathan Morgan, 28, with possession of drug paraphernalia and marijuana. The Aliquippa, Pa., man had a suspected marijuana pipe and a small bag of suspected marijuana, a report stated.

Arrest: Phillip Davis, 59, was taken into custody during a traffic stop near Gypsy Lane and charged with operating a vehicle impaired and driving under an operating-a-vehicle-impaired suspension. Davis, of Verona Avenue, Girard, refused to submit to a Breathalyzer test, a report said.

June 12

Recovered property: Someone found a damaged computer tablet in the road near state Route 193.

Counterfeit: Someone passed a phony $20 bill at a Speedway gas station, 4210 Belmont Ave.

June 13

Employee theft: A charge was pending against a Niles woman, 32, after a worker with Taco Bell in the Liberty Plaza alleged having seen the woman on surveillance footage removing an undisclosed sum of money from a drop box.

Weapon: Jorge L. Ortiz-Cruz of Chatham Lane, Youngstown, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon after having been pulled over near Belmont Avenue. Ortiz-Cruz, 30, had a pair of brass knuckles in the car, police said.

June 14

Drug paraphernalia: Officers approached a vehicle in a cemetery off Belmont Avenue, where they charged Ricky L. Snyder, 36, with possession of drug paraphernalia. Snyder, of Liberty Avenue, Girard, had a suspected crack-cocaine pipe with a wad of a scouring pad, a combination common in drug use, a report showed.

Theft: An East Palestine man, 29, reportedly stole a 50-inch TV from Walmart, then fled in a dark sport utility vehicle.

GIRARD

June 12

Harassment: A North Avenue woman said a former friend has made and sent her unwanted calls and text messages.

Arrest: Police picked up Phillip Davis Sr., 59, of Verona Avenue, Girard. He was wanted on a Girard Municipal Court warrant charging him with operating a vehicle impaired.

Menacing: A landscaper working in the 900 block of Dravis Avenue reported a man had challenged him to a fight during a dispute regarding where the accuser had parked his vehicle.

Criminal mischief: A Norwood Avenue woman noticed a lock had been removed from her electric meter.

Drugs: A traffic stop on U.S. Route 422 led to a minor-misdemeanor citation against Kaitlyn A. Bosak, 21, of Salt Springs Road, Girard, when, police said, she admitted having a suspected marijuana cigarette.

Domestic violence: A 16-year-old Girard girl was charged with the crime after her mother alleged the teen had pushed her during a heated argument related to discipline problems.

Felonious assault: An East Prospect Street man told police that as he tried to get a family member out of a vehicle, a man pointed a gun at him.

June 13

Auto theft: A 2006 Honda Trike was stolen in the 200 block of South Davis Street.

Domestic violence: Chalise Gibson-Canty, 43, of Church Hill Road, Girard, was charged after her former husband alleged Gibson-Canty had entered his residence and struck his face as the accuser slept. She also was charged with having a suspected crack-cocaine pipe.

Assault: Officers responded to a fight in the 200 block of Broadview Avenue, where several people reported having been assaulted. One woman said she had been punched in the mouth; a man reported having been bitten on his right arm.

Arrest: Authorities charged Richard L. Wilson III, 25, with making a false alarm after alleging Wilson, of Warwick Road Southeast, Warren, had called 911 several times to complain about a four-wheel vehicle, which is an inappropriate use of the emergency line.

Theft: A North Avenue woman reported a debit card stolen.

Identity fraud: A Sampson Drive man learned that his personal information had been used to take out a $5,000 loan, and that he received an $887 past-due notice.
