Rotary helps outdoor track team

Coach Seth Steiner recently presented the nine members of the Fitch Outdoor Track team that will be going to a national competition in Greensboro, N. C., to the Rotary Club of Austintown. The New Balance National Championships bring together over 1,000 top athletes to this event June 15 to June 18. Steiner thanked the Rotary for their continued support over the years which makes this program available to the youths who meet the criteria in their division.

The speaker for the day was Dr. Tom Jones of Warren, specialist in joint-replacement surgery at Trumbull Memorial Hospital. Dr. Jones explained the advances in joint-replacement and the high accreditation given to his program for its excellent results. Dr. Jones advised the athletes to keep their weight under control in later life as a way to prevent joint problems. Dr. Jones received a book from Ed Kalaher, Rotary president that will be donated in his honor to the Austintown Elementary Library.
