The campaign of Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted, a 2018 Republican gubernatorial candidate, announced Tuesday he has secured local GOP leaders to head his campaign operations in each of Ohio’s 88 counties.

In Mahoning County, Thomas McCabe, deputy director of the board of elections, and Holly Deibel, a local Republican leader, head Husted’s campaign.

Lordstown Mayor Arno Hill is chairman of Husted’s campaign in Trumbull County, and former state Rep. Charles Blasdel is chairman of the campaign in Columbiana County.

Black bear spotted

POLAND

A black bear was reported roaming the township and village area Tuesday. The police department had received calls about the bear wandering about since 6 a.m., said police Chief Brian Goodin. The last known sighting was at 11 a.m. in the 8000 block of North Lima Road with the bear heading west.

Goodin said officers will not approach or attempt to subdue the bear if they see it. “We aren’t equipped for this,” he said. The chief advised residents to stay away from the bear and alert authorities.

3 men face charges

BUTLER, Pa.

Pennsylvania State Police at Butler have charged three people with the death of a Butler woman whose remains were found late Monday in Lawrence County.

Charged are Ishemer Ramsey, James Howard-George and Joshua Bowser. A state police news release did not include ages or hometowns for the three.

Ramsey is charged with criminal homicide and tampering with evidence. Howard-George and Bowser are each charged with conspiracy to commit criminal homicide, tampering with evidence and abuse of a corpse.

All three are in the Butler County jail.

They are charged in the death of Melissa Barto, 26, whose burned body was found late Monday near New Castle.

Police said she had been missing since June 8 before she was found.
