Junior Civic League will host its annual scholarship brunch at 2 p.m. June 25 at Holiday Inn South, 7410 South Ave., Boardman, where scholarships will be awarded to nine local high-school graduates. The guest speaker will be Dr. Tonia Farmer, a board certified ENT specialist and attending physician at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
The 2016 Cinderella Ball court will receive scholarships for 2017-18. They are Kailynn G. Anderson, Miss Cinderella 2016 of Boardman, $2,500; Cie’l Vidale, Ursuline, $1,800; and Jena Johnson, Youngstown Early College, $1,500. There are six other recipients of $1,500 scholarships for 2017-18. They are: Addrinne Johnson, East; Gabrielle Jones, Warren G. Harding; Sheldon McGhee, Hubbard; JaMese Mitchell and Tash Pisano, Liberty; and Davia Ford, Struthers.
In July, the JCL will award an additional scholarship in partnership with the Youngstown State University Foundation. Applicants must be full-time YSU students enrolled for the upcoming fall semester, have 31 semester hours and a minimum grade-point-average of 3.0.
