Mooney football camp set for June 23-24

YOUNGSTOWN

Youngstown State’s Bo Pelini, Carl Pelini and Jim Tressel will be coaches for the Cardinal Mooney Camp of Champions on June 23-24.

Also serving as a coach will be Mark Stoops, Kentucky head coach.

The 17th annual camp will be at the Cardinal Mooney Football Complex and is for players in grades three through eight.

The non-contact camp features instruction in offensive and defensive fundamentals and hands-on drills to apply the skills taught by the camp staff.

Participants are grouped by age for drills, and receive a camp T-shirt and a class picture taken with their coaches.

Guest speakers at this year’s camp will include former Cleveland Browns quarterback Bernie Kosar.

On June 25 from noon-6 p.m., the 17th annual Ron Stoops Sr. and Anthony Pelini Memorial Foundation Bocce Social will be at the MVR.

The benefit unites celebrities, corporate sponsors, alumni and friends of Cardinal Mooney High School to benefit local charities. More than 400 alumni and friends are expected.

The bocce event has a full slate of 24 teams competing.

Collectible auctions and raffles are planned, with items featuring

Oklahoma, Kentucky, Ohio State, Michigan, YSU, the San Francisco 49ers and the Browns.

The RSAP Foundation has raised more than $1 million. Organizations to which the Foundation has contributed include The United Way, St. Dominic’s Community Outreach, Difference Makers, Boys & Girls Club of Youngstown, the Mill Creek Community Center and Cardinal Mooney High School.
