HUBBARD
The westbound lane of Interstate 80 in Ohio just west of the Pennsylvania border was closed to traffic for more than an hour Thursday after a crash at 6 p.m. involving a motorcycle, an unknown commercial vehicle and a charter bus.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol Warren Post reported the commercial vehicle, driver unknown, was in the right lane followed by the charter bus, driven by Latoya Webb of Garfield Heights. The motorcycle, driven by Albert E. Bonetti Jr. of Tallmadge, was in the left lane.
Investigators said the commercial vehicle changed lanes, striking the motorcycle and forcing it off the left side of the highway into a guard rail, causing the motorcyclist to lose control, strike the guard rail again and overturn, ejecting the motorcyclist. The motorcycle continued into the right lane where is was struck by the bus. The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet, was transported by Life Fleet Ambulance to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.
The commercial vehicle continued westbound on I-80 without stopping. The state patrol said alcohol did not appear to be involved, and no charges have been filed. The crash remains under investigation.
