Water customers to get copies of report

Youngstown Water Department customers will receive copies of a consumer-confidence report with their water bills by July 1.
The report is required by the federal Safe Drinking Water Act Reauthorization of 1996. The information in the report details what is in the water.
The city purchases water from the Mahoning Valley Sanitary District and distributes about 18 million gallons a day through 750 miles of pipelines to residents of Youngstown, Austintown, Boardman, Canfield Township and Liberty and sells it in bulk to Mineral Ridge, Girard, the city of Canfield and North Jackson.

Playground closed

Beginning today, the wet playground at the James L. Wick Recreation Area in Mill Creek MetroParks will be closed while work on the concrete pavement is completed.
The restrooms at the Warming House also will be closed, but restrooms are available at the par-3 golf building. The work is expected to last two days. Other play areas will not be affected.

Township police Tuesday took custody of a Poland man wanted on a warrant related to a drug overdose.
Ralph Detoro III, 45, of Diana Drive, is charged with inducing panic in the incident reported Feb. 17 at Akron Children’s Hospital Mahoning Valley Beeghly Campus’ parking lot on Market Street.
According to a police report, Detoro shot up heroin, overdosed, then was dropped off in front of the hospital’s emergency-room area. He was revived with Narcan, a medication that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.

A Youngstown man faces a criminal charge in connection with a drug overdose police said he suffered in a fast-food restaurant’s parking lot.
William McCulloch, 23, of South Glenellen Avenue, is charged with inducing panic in an incident reported March 30 at an Arby’s on Youngstown-Poland Road.
There, responders reportedly found an unresponsive man in the parking lot who was not breathing. The man, later identified as McCulloch, was revived with Narcan, a medication that reverses the effects of an opioid overdose.

Veterans’ office to close for funeral

The Mahoning County Veterans Service Commission office, 345 Oak Hill Ave., will be closed from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday to enable staff to attend a funeral, the commission announced.
