One of three people injured in Warren fight went to house for help
Staff report
WARREN
Three people were injured in an apparent home invasion at a house at 2052 W. Market St. at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A Vermont Street Northwest man who helped a man who came to his door Wednesday with apparent stab wounds to the head says the man kept saying, “They tried to kill me! I need help!”
Walter Jackson called 911 and saw the man had a 3-inch-wide slice on the back of his head and other cuts on his nose near his eye.
The man had apparently walked or ran from 2052 W. Market, a half-block north of Vermont, to seek help at Jackson’s house. He was taken to the hospital.
According to radio transmissions from the officers who responded, two people with apparent gunshot wounds were found at the West Market Street address and taken to the hospital.
Officers described two of the people involved as having white shirts over their faces and wearing black hats, but it’s unclear if they were the victims or the perpetrators.
Police at the scene were not releasing any information on the condition of the victims or verifying that three people were injured.
The West Market address is just across the street from a home where a man suffered a gunshot wound to the leg in February when he went there to “collect a debt,” police said.
Carlos Huff, 22, of Miller Street was later indicted on felonious assault in the incident.
Jackson, who said he had never seen the man before he came to his back door, said he has several dogs that protect the house because the neighborhood has several drug houses.
“We let them know we don’t want that here,” Jackson said of drug dealers. His dogs, including pit bulls, an American Boxer and a Rottweiler, are there to protect the family.
The 911 center reported that a man, 47, from Newton Falls, a woman, 21, from Atlantic Street, a male, 21, of Victoria Street, and a man, 23, from the West Market address were involved in the incident.
It was not clear late Wednesday which of those individuals were wounded.
