The Butler Institute of American Art is accepting applications for its two-week Summer Visual Arts Day Camp on July 18-21 and 25-28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the museum’s Trumbull branch, 9350 E. Market St., Howland.
The Butler’s unique camp program instructs campers in drawing, painting, printmaking and sculpture. Participants must be between age 8 and 12 by July 18, attend the registration on the first day from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., and commit to attending all eight days of camp.
Parents or guardians can request a registration form for their child by sending an email with the subject “Summer Visual Arts Day Camp” to maggiekamenitsa@butlerart.com or joycemistovich@butlerart.com. A registration form also can be obtained by calling 234-228-8505.
Completed forms must be submitted with a $135 fee. Families with more than one child attending camp will receive a 10 percent discount.
Free enrollment is available on a limited basis through the Butler’s education department. Campers will be notified of acceptance by email, or regular mail if an email address is not available.
This year’s camp utilizes the theme “Journeys in American Art,” which turns young campers into artists and explorers traveling on a visual journey across the country’s landscape.
Campers will spend their last morning touring the Butler’s main museum in Youngstown, followed by lunch. An exhibition of their work will be displayed at the Trumbull branch July 28 from 1 to 2 p.m.
