Free health fair, family fun day

YOUNGSTOWN

A free community fit walk, health fair and family fun day will take place Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Boys & Girls Club of Youngstown, 2105 Oak Hill Ave.

Sponsored by Kool Boiz Foundation, the event will include free health screenings, information, giveaways, games, entertainment and food.

The fit walk will be a 1-mile neighborhood walk. Registration is free, but event T-shirts will be sold. For details, go to koolboizfoundation.org.

Art Hop with music and juried show

WARREN

The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County’s first Art Hop of the year will take place Saturday from 3 to 6 p.m. downtown, with live music and art.

Artists will be set up along Courthouse Square with works in mediums ranging from photography, painting, mixed media, blacksmithing, custom clothing, print-making and more on display and available for purchase.

The opening reception for the Sharpie on Park juried art show, which features works created using Sharpie markers by close to 30 artists, will be in the Art on Park building, 180 N. Park Ave., from 3 to 6 p.m. Awards and prizes will be announced at the opening reception, and the artists will have studio open houses and tours, with original artworks on display and for sale.

Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N Park Ave., will have the closing receptions for the Craig Matis show “Tightrope: Walk the Line” as well the TAG Artist Spotlight, featuring the works of more than a dozen artists. This will also be the Trumbull Art Gallery’s final sale day for Treasures for TAG, with special pricing on all remaining artworks.

Poets to read works at the Purple Cat

YOUNGSTOWN

Three acclaimed poets – Nin Andrews (“Miss August”), Allison Pitinii Davis (“Line Study of a Motel Clerk”) and Rochelle Hurt (“In Which I Play the Runaway”) – will read their works tonight at 7 at the Purple Cat theater, 220 W. Boardman St., downtown.

Davis and Hurt are natives of the Mahoning Valley.

Parking for the event will be available in the lot across the street. An open microphone session will follow, emceed by local writer Anne Garwig.
