Sharon police say the death of a man found about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in a Spruce Street home is a homicide. The Vindicator’s broadcast partner, 21 WFMJ-TV, reported that the victim, Lawrence Henderson, 68, was found after police were called to the home for a welfare check, according to Police Chief Gerald Smith.
A forensics team from the Pennsylvania State Police is assisting in collecting evidence.
Multiple charges
BOARDMAN
Robert Boyd, 47, of Lockwood Boulevard appeared Tuesday in Mahoning County Area Court here for a pretrial hearing on charges of contributing to the unruliness/delinquency of a child, furnishing alcohol to minors and illegal possession of fireworks. The prosecution said it did not object to Boyd having contact with his two children, but asked Mahoning County Children Services to review the case.
Boyd is being investigated by township police, with the help of the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation, for unspecified sex offenses. Officers seized evidence from his home last month.
Drugs in buttocks
YOUNGSTOWN
Police found a loaded .357-Magnum, suspected marijuana, crack cocaine, heroin and $1,185 cash on a man pulled over for making an improper turn.
Reports said Jamel Patton, 21, of West Princeton Avenue, was stopped about 6:35 p.m. Monday at Willis Avenue and Market Street on the South Side and was searched because he was acting nervous and told police he did not know how old he was. Police found the gun in his pocket. Reports said Patton then told police he had drugs and he retrieved them from his buttocks.
Patton was taken to the Mahoning County jail on drug and weapons charges. He gave them his brother’s information when they first stopped him, reports said.
