YOUNGSTOWN

The Ohio Living Senior Center, 1110 Fifth Ave., is offering a “Safe Driving for Mature Operators” course from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. on June 12 and 14. The cost is $10 for AAA members and $15 for non-AAA members. Participants must attend both days to be eligible for a possible insurance discount.

The eight-hour course is approved by the State of Ohio insurance discount for drivers 60 and older. Participants will learn how to adjust their car to better fit themselves; make better decisions behind the wheel, and become more confident and relaxed while driving. They will also learn about new driving laws and signals and safety devises on their vehicle they may not know about.

Mercy Health - Youngstown is offering free classes on healthy eating habits at St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital, 8401 Market St. in June. The classes are led by a registered dietitian. Safe sitter course

LISBON

The Columbiana County Health Department is offering a Safe Sitter Course from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. June 20 at the health department, 7360 state Route 45. The nationally recognized course, offered to boys and girls 11-16, is taught by a representative of Akron Children’s Hospital.

Participants learn how to handle minor emergencies; life-saving techniques; age-appropriate activities for infants, toddlers, preschool- and school-age children; safety and security precautions; and basic child-care skills such as diapering and feeding.

The cost is $30 per student. Each student is asked to bring a packed lunch, and will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the course. To register, call Krista at 330-424-0272, ext. 114.
