Celebrate Poland annual festival will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 1. The committee is asking for arts and crafts, nonprofit organizations and small businesses to fill in spaces. For information or to sign up call 330-757-4584.

Poland Presbyterian Church Strawberry Festival will take place from 5 to 8:30 p.m. June 30 on the church lawn, 2 Poland Manor. Food items available will be strawberries, ice cream, shortcake, hot dogs, sausage sandwiches, snacks and beverages. Live Jazz music and a basket raffle also will be included. Lovin’ Me, a local community organization, is hosting a street vendors fair from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday on Kenmore Avenue. Simply Slavic Festival organizers are seeking authentic Slavic crafts, fine arts and food vendors for its seventh annual Simply Slavic Festival set for noon to midnight June 17 on Federal Plaza East, downtown Youngstown. There will be a baking contest for amateur bakers. Baked goods must be Slavic and must be served to judges at room temperature. Deadline to enter is Friday. White House Fruit Farm will host its annual strawberry festival from noon to 4 p.m. June 17 on the farm’s grounds, 9249 Youngstown-Salem Road, Canfield, near the intersection of Western Reserve Road. In addition to live music, there will be baskets of fresh-picked strawberries, various foods and strawberry treats including shortcake, slushes and ice cream. The Chocolate Chik and Expressions of You will host a golf outing at 10:30 a.m. July 23 at Mahoning Country Club, 710 E. Liberty St., Girard. Cost is $75 per person or $300 for a team of four which includes greens fees, cart, food, drink and 18 holes. Skins are $5 each, and prizes for closest-to-the-hole will be given. There also will be raffles and gifts for all participants. Proceeds will be donated to the Fight Like a Girl Foundation for children that have a year or less to live. Parto’s Golf Learning Center will host the Foster Parent Association of Mahoning County annual golf outing will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday at 2231 Coitsville-Hubbard Road, Youngstown. Cost of the four-person scramble is $100 per team which includes drinks and lunch. There will be a 50-50 raffle and a basket auction, both of which require donated baskets. St. Joseph’s Church in Austintown, 4545 New Rd., will host the St. Vincent de Paul’s “Christmas in July” event July 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Various vendors will display trees, ornaments, lights and other Christmas decor. All proceeds benefit the St. Vincent de Paul’s soup kitchen and food pantry.

SALES

Friends of Leetonia Community Public Library will host a book sale from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday in the Annex building behind the library. Proceeds will be used for the Library’s Summer Reading Program.

Helping Hands Closet at Western Reserve United Methodist Church, 4580 Canfield Road, Canfield will begin its monthly sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m Tuesday and will continue every Tuesday through June. There are items for all family members to dress head to toe.

Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4490 Norquest Blvd., Austintown, will hold its annual festival rummage sale Tuesday through Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m. and from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday, then from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Special prices will be offered Sunday. There also will be a basket/gift card raffle. These events will take place in the school cafeteria.

Poland Lions will host a treasures of the trunk sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Poland High School stadium parking lot. Vendors are being sought for this one-day sale from the trunk of your car. Crafters, home goods, furniture, toys, specialty items and garage-sale items are welcome. There are 100 spaces. Eastwood Mall, in partnership with the National Packard Museum, Warren, will host special events for auto enthusiasts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday and June 17. Kids are invited to the mall’s center court to learn about and build their own cars. Their cars will be featured in Eastwood’s Cruise-In Car Show, June 23-25. All events are free.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Smith Corners United Methodist Church, 3000 S. Canfield-Niles Road, Austintown, will host a family fun night from 5 to 8 p.m. June 16. There will be food, games, music, a bounce castle and fellowship.

Three Sheep Gallery and Workshop will host Helena Bristow from Oink Pigments at 10 a.m. June 16 at 6010 Market St., Boardman. Bristow will demonstrate a knit-along using some of her new yarns and fibers. For information, call 330-953-3600.

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership will host a “Better Block on Pine” event from 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday. The event will make temporary changes to the closed off part of Pine between Market Street and Franklin Street to showcase the potential redevelopment of the block. Also included will be a bike-safety demonstration, give-away, a raffle of two children’s bicycles, and there will be live music and many activities. The funding has been made available from the William Swanston Charitable fund that supports and assists abused, neglected and dependent children of Mahoning and Trumbull counties.

The Oregon Trail, a route originally traveled by foot and horseback, later became the main route for many thousands of settlers traveling west by wagon train to build new lives. Salem Public Library, 821 E. State St., will present the opportunity to explore more personally the hazards, critical decision-making and causes related to the great migration of people across the North American continent when “Oregon Trail: The Decision at The Dalles” is presented from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 22. This interactive video-conference program, another in the “Live from Anywhere” series and presented by Columbia Gorge Discovery Center and Museum, will take place in the Quaker Room.
