Shoebox recipient to speak of impact

Nadia Karnatova will speak from 3 to 4 p.m. Saturday at Poland United Methodist Church about receiving an Operation Christmas Child shoebox as a child.
Karnatova grew up in Ukraine and said the shoebox made a great impact on her life.
The event, presented by Operation Christmas Child, will feature refreshments and shoebox ideas in addition to the presentation.
ICan Shine Bike Camp

Down Syndrome Association of the Valley will host its fourth annual iCan Shine Bike Camp from June 19-23 at Glenwood Junior High School, 7635 Glenwood Ave. The camp is open to all people with disabilities.
ICan Shine teaches individuals with disabilities to ride a conventional two-wheel bicycle. The program runs five days. Riders attend same 75-minute session time each day. Cost is $75. Riders and volunteers are needed. Visit dsav.org for more data and to register or volunteer.
Fitch band invited to march in DC parade
AUSTINTOWN
The Austintown Fitch High School Marching Band was invited to perform in the 2018 National Cherry Blossom Festival Parade in Washington, D.C., next year.
About 1.2 million people attend the parade, which is scheduled for April 14, and it is broadcast on national television.
In recent years, the band has marched in the NATO Festival of Nations parade, the Pegasus parade for the Kentucky Derby and the Festival of Character Parade at Walt Disney World.
Tour will feature military gravesites

TimeBank Mahoning Watershed’s first monthly drop-in luncheon will take place from 11:45 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at Jimmy’s Italian Specialties, 3230 Belmont Ave.
The public is invited to attend a luncheon with Time Bank members, an opportunity for members of the public to expand their network, chat about skill swaps and plan projects. Individuals pay for their own lunch.
Time Bank officials say the socials provide accessible, inclusive space to bring people together, improve well being, neighborliness, trust and civic pride.
The core mission of the TimeBank Mahoning Watershed is an umbrella network of individuals, groups, organizations and communities where members, through reciprocity, use their assets to enhance their lives, officials said.
