School recognition
BOARDMAN
The National Wildlife Federation recognized Glenwood Junior High School for its creation of a certified schoolyard habitat through its Garden for Wildlife program. Glenwood joins about 5,000 schools in the country that have turned their schoolyards into wildlife habitats with features such as natural food sources, clean water, cover and places to raise young. A club at the school began the project on its own, then received support from Boardman Subaru and NWF to secure native plants, bird feeders, houses and a bath. Work on the project is ongoing.
