Shooters & Scooters
Shooters & Scooters
Niles
Western Reserve Fish & Game Club, 1058 W. Third St., will have its annual fundraiser, Shooters & Scooters 6, for its junior competitive rifle team at 8:30 a.m. today. The rain date is Sunday.
The unique poker run combines a traditional motorcycle ride with a unique style of dealing poker hands. Registered participants will fire range pistols, under the watchful eye of NRA range masters, at playing-card targets for their opening hands. They will throw darts at the same targets for their draw cards.
The event will feature prizes and raffle items, which can be found at www.wrfg.us. The winner of the prize for best hand must meet federal, state and local legal requirements. There will be an FFL on site to handle the prize documentation.
Registration for Shooters & Scooters starts at 8:30 a.m., and kickstands go up at 10:30.
The club will provide breakfast pastries and dinner. Lunch will be available at the Inn in Franklin, Pa., with reserved off-street parking.

ODNR officials: Leave wildlife alone
Columbus
Each year, Ohio Department of Natural Resources officials offer this simple advice: Enjoy wildlife from a distance and leave young animals alone. Wild animals are born to live their lives in the wild, and sometimes good intentions can hurt their chances of survival.
A young, wild animal’s best chance for survival is with its mother. Most wildlife taken in by people do not survive, except when handled by specially trained personnel. In many cases, a young animal collected by a person was not lost or abandoned, but was simply waiting for a parent to return.
