“Alaska Homicide” (10 p.m., Discovery): Apparently, people go missing at an eerily high rate in Alaska, where citizens often vanish into the wilderness without a trace. Now we have a new true-crime series to delve into some of these cases.

Bob Seger to kick off tour in August

DETROIT

Bob Seger is heading out for a late summer and fall tour with his Silver Bullet Band.

The 72-year-old singer announced Wednesday that his Runaway Train tour will begin Aug. 24 in Toledo. Seger’s final Pittsburgh appearance at PPG Paints Arena, according to his press release, is set for Sept. 28. Tickets for this show go on sale June 16 at 10 a.m.

His tour currently has dates through Oct. 28, when he’ll play a show in Phoenix. Boston, Detroit, Atlanta and Dallas are among the major stops.

Seger says additional dates will be announced for Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Minneapolis and other cities.

Singer Nancy Wilson, of the band Heart, will join Seger for some dates on the tour.

Jazz ensemble hosts dance in Alliance

The West Branch High School Jazz Band will be providing entertainment today at Don Ponchos Restaurant in Alliance from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Party Room. The band will be providing music that diners may listen to, dance to or even sing to. The band will be playing dance tunes including: “Old Time Rock ’n’ Roll,” “Brick House,” “Embraceable You,” “Just the Way You Are,” “Misty,” “April In Paris,” “Gonna Fly Now,”“Skyfall,” “Take the A Train,” “Everybody Needs Somebody,” “Minnie the Moocher,” “Route 66,” “Uptown Funk,” “Yakety Sax,” “Bei Mir Bist Du Schoen” and “Sway.” All styles of dance music will be represented during the evening.

Various vocalists also will be there.

The show is free.
