Wounded Philly councilman expected to return home soon

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Latest on the stabbing of a Philadelphia city councilman (all times local):

9:25 a.m.

A legislative aide says a Philadelphia city councilman stabbed in an attempted robbery near his residence had surgery overnight and is expected to return home soon.

Police say Republican Councilman David Oh was stabbed once in the left side late Wednesday night by a would-be robber as he was getting out of his car.

No arrests have been made.

Oh’s legislative aide says the councilman, a minister’s son, “does not have any ill will toward the person who attacked him.” The aide says “that’s just the way he is.”

The aide says the attacker was a complete stranger.

Oh was first elected to council in 2011. He’s the first Asian-American elected to public office in Philadelphia, and the only U.S. military veteran currently serving on council.
