DANCES

Boardman United Methodist Church, 6809 Market St., will host a dance class at 5 p.m. every Wednesday for health and fitness. The event is open to the public as well as church members. FAIRS, FESTIVALS

St. Vitus Parish will sponsor its 36th annual festival Wednesday through Friday from 6 to 10 p.m. on the church grounds, 910 S. Mercer St., New Castle, Pa. There will be fun for the whole family with kiddieland rides and games; homemade foods featuring nightly Italian specials and Italian-American entertainment. Niles Historical Society will host its Heritage Day from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Ward-Thomas Museum, 503 Brown St. The theme will be “Remembering our Past, Living in the Present, Embracing our Future.” There is no entrance fee for the displays and demonstrations by local crafters, vendors and artisans, including the Dragon Guild. There also will be food and raffles along with face painting, children’s games and activities. Local artist Rick Muccio will do caricatures. Historical books and items will be available for view and purchase as well as tours of the Ward-Thomas House.

Hubbard St. Patrick Church will host its 59th annual festival Thursday through Sunday at 225 N. Main St. Entertainment is scheduled for every evening, and raffle prizes will include a 55-inch TV, Apple iPad Pro and many other items. Grand Prize raffle is $25,000 cash. Homemade food will be available along with rides and bingo Friday and Saturday. Admission is free. Hours are 6 to 11 p.m. Thursday and Friday, 5 p.m. to midnight Saturday and 3 to 11 p.m. Sunday. On Saturday, a 5K run is to take place with proceeds to benefit the church’s food pantry.

William Penn Association Branch 28 will host its fraternal fest from noon to 6 p.m. Aug. 26 at the Hungarian Cultural Center of Northeastern Ohio, 12027 Abbott Road, Hiram. All you can eat and drink for admission cost of $15 for adults, $5 for students, and children under 12 are free. All proceeds will benefit the WPA scholarship fund. Menu choices include goulash, stuffed cabbage, cabbage and noodles, kolbasz, hot dogs, chicken with Hungarian noodles and corn polenta. Pastries, palacsinta, langos and bacon bread will be available for purchase separately.

Youngstown American Hungarian Federation will host its annual Hungarian Day Festival from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Aut Mori Grotto Hall, 563 N. FUNDRAISERS

Operation Blessing food pantry of Canfield is bringing the Traveling Petting Zoo to the Dollar General, Rte.224 in Canfield, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. The cost is any monetary donation to the food pantry which serves Mahoning County and receives no government funding. Animals are provided by Felger Exotics, Dwayne and Daniel Felger.

Hubbard Public Library will be accepting donations of school supplies through Aug. 12 for students who would not be able to afford the supplies necessary for back-to-school. All patrons who donate will have any accrued fines on their Hubbard library account waived. Fine free patrons and community members are encouraged to participate but donations will not be credited for future fines. Friends of Fido will host its fifth annual celebrity bartender night from 6 to10 p.m. Aug. 10 at The Lake Club. Tickets are $40 each or a table of 10 for $350. St. Nicholas School is participating in a shoe collection fundraiser until Oct. 1. Rubber band “gently used” shoes in pairs. The goal is to collect 2500 pairs and boxes to donate are located at St. Nicholas and Holy Trinity Church doors.

Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Tabernacle Blvd., is sponsoring The Beacons of Hope: Extravaganza and Trunk Show from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 26. All proceeds from this craft, fashion and trunk show will benefit the Tabernacle education assistance ministry with scholarship funds. Free Polish Krakusy Society will have its second annual summer picnic from 12:30 to 7:30 p.m. Aug. 20 at Countryside Farm on route 224 in Poland. Eastside Crime Watch will host a National Night Out March Against Crime from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday. New Middletown will host its 17th National Night Out with a parade leaving Springfield High School and traveling north on state Route 170 to St. Paul, to begin at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday The event is designed to promote police and community relations. The party will take place at 7 p.m. behind the Municipal building, 10711 Main St. and will offer entertainment, free food and soft drinks, tactical vehicle display including SWAT, YPD bomb squad and more. A police K-9 demonstration also is scheduled. YSU cheerleaders and football players will be present. The event will end with a fireworks display at 10.

Trumbull Neighborhood Partnership will host the fourth annual Garden Crawl and Party on the Porch in Warren’s Garden District from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The community is invited to join in the celebration of the Garden District. A variety of activities including a picnic, sidewalk chalk and games for the kids to play, giveaways from local business’ and community art will be featured. National Fire and Water Repair will have the fire truck on site. Speakers Thomas Welsh, Joshua Foster and Gordon Morgan, co-authors of “A History of Jewish Youngstown and the Steel Valley,” will share highlights of their recently released book. Young Leaders Advisory Board of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society is hosting an Aug. 12 bus trip to East Liverpool. The tour will depart the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., at 9 a.m. The trip will begin with a behind-the-scenes tour of the Homer Laughlin China Factory. Lunch will be provided. There also will be a guided tour of the Museum of Ceramics, and a walking tour of other downtown historic sites.
